Especially with the more expensive hair and makeup artists. For example, my mom is going to have her hair done but it's short so all she is doing is having it blown out nicely and hairsprayed. No updo or curling of any sort. I really don't think that this is a $100 + job. Has anyone ever tried negotiating with them?

Negotioating probably varies from place to place. I'd be curious how much they'd charge if they didn't know it was for her daughter's wedding. Maybe she should call just to get a general quote without going into details! People jack up prices if they know things are for weddings!

sooooooo true...ppl hear 'wedding' and think $$$. I read once that weddings are the 10th biggest industry in the US!
eta: I never tried to negotiate but if you have a lot of BMs maybe you can get the price down...

You can negotiate if its a person that is doing it on her own, but if its in a salon it may be harder to get them down. They usually have a set price, BUT if you have a lot of BM's That DEF helps to help them lower the cost per girl. Ask to speak to the owner ya never know =) Especially if its a place youve been going to for a while.

It probably also depends how popular the hair stylist and makeup artist are. The more popular ones probably won't negogiate with you b/c they know they can get paid full price and still have work that same day.
