Has anyone ever 'shortened' a pair of heels? I don't even know if that's what you call it!!!

I found a pair of shoes that I love, but they will make me taller than FH. So... the woman at Varone's recommended that I 'cut' an inch off of them. It seemed a little sketchy to me!!!

Here's what the shoes look like!!!

Yup you can get them shortened. I am not sure exactly where they do it but I know it is possible.

I did it and it made the shoes look terrible! luckily I had a back up pair!

it made the shoe flatten out in the middle, I dont recommend doing that but you may have better luck with open toed!

You just have to be really careful. If you shorten the back and there's a large arch, you have to make sure that the front of the shoe won't flip up.

Just go to a shoemaker and they'll help you.

I went to a shoemaker and he told me to bring in the shoes so he can see if it can be done. They shorten them little by little so it doesn't ruin the shoe.....

i'd be skeptical, seems like a lot of trouble to got to (buying the shoes and paying for the shortening) for shoes that hardly anyone will see and might end up fitting poorly afterward.

Wow! Totally seems not worth it! Thanks for the insight!!!

I did it and it was fine. i bought Stuart Weitzman shoes for my E-Party from Shoebox in Manhasset. I loved the shoes b/c they came in the exact color that i needed but they were a little too high for me. they did what they call take 2 'heel lifts' off the shoes. it was great. it didn't ruin the shoe at all. the woman said they could not take anymore than that b/c then the shoes would be messed up. Great idea. Try Shoe Box, they really knew what they were doing. check and see if they will do it for you even f you didn't buy the shoes there.

I think it would throw off the shape and balance of the shoe. Maybe you can find something similar with a lower heel?

It can't hurt to ask a pro if it's worth it or not.

Great question. I was wondering the same thing. I got a sandal heel for the wedding day. I love the shoe but the heel is 3 1/2 inches. I feel like it is a bit high to wear for such a long day. Some people recommened a second pair of shoes to change into at the reception or to get the ballet slippers. Not sure what I am going to do.

can i ask a question? what type of dress are you wearing? will you be able to see the shoes? i have to tell you that if you are wearing a ballgown you will likely not be able to see your shoes AT ALL, so you're better off getting a shoe with the heels already the size you want and you are sure it is comfortable, etc.
