Has anyone ever written a letter of rec for THEMSELVES??

I'm in internship application HELL right now. To add to my workload, my former school psychology supervisor wants me to write my letter of recommendation from him, then he'll add to it and edit it. I'm really struggling with this. It's so hard to know how much to praise yourself..it just feels weird!

Has anyone ever done this? How did you handle it?

a letter of yourself??? That's wierd, I thought people do that for you?

I'm going to write it first, and he's going to edit it and sign it. I hate doing things this way, and I really don't need additional work! His reasoning is that I remember my experiences better than he does....I think it's just laziness!

Yes, people have said 'Write it and I will sign it' -- it is so hard, you don;t want to sound like a blowhard but you want to come across as skilled and praiseworthy. Write it and then let as many pair of eyes (brad, us) look at it as possible---te more voices it reflects, the better it will be.

been on both sides, have had to write one for myself and have asked others to 'write it and i'll sign it' when deadline was tight...

write exactly what you would want someone to say! no biggie...

I had to do that in HS. hat was standard procedure, but basically it wasn't a letter they asked for a loist of what I felt my strength sna weaknesses were, special accomplishments, other things I wanted the people to know that they wouidlnlt find out from the rest of the application.

ETA: It might be wise to start off that way, with a list fo your accomplishments and good qualities!
