My gyno gave me a referral for one because of my family history.
Do they hurt? I would think anything that squeezes your boobs hurt??

I had my first one this past August. My Dr. gave me the Rx as a 36th bday present. As a small breasted woman, they hurt more because it is more difficult to get enough 'substance' on the slab and they have to squeeze a lil more. Youd think that larger breasted women would have it harder but not in this case. You are only uncomfy for a few seconds. Worth every bit of discomfort if you ask me.

I had my first and only at age 24. It was a fast pain that you forget. It really isn't bad at all. Just think, it for a good cause.

I had one at 22 - I'm not big in the chest, but it didn't really hurt me at all. I think that a breast sonogram hurts more.

I have had a few... and will be having even more soon (my sister and aunt both died from breast cancer).
They don't hurt. The cone compression... if you happen to need one... is a little less comfortable. But not at all unmanagable.

No but Id like one. My grandma had a masectomy and I know of way too many women who have breast ancer!

It is more painful for women with a smaller chest but it is minimal and a pain that is well worth especially if it runs in your family.

I've had 9!!!!! Before you think I just enjoy having my boobs smashed, let me explain. For one, I'm over 35, and for another, I had breast reduction in 1997. I had to have one before the surgery and I've just been going yearly ever since. For me, it doesn't hurt at all, it's just a couple of moments of being uncomfortable, but no pain. Thank God I've had normal mammo's every time.

Yes and it's not so bad. I'm just glad to get it done so if they do find something it will be early enough to treat.
I had an abnormality the first time. I freaked out but it all worked out. I'm fine and now I get Sonograms, Mammos and MRIs just to be safe.
