Has anyone lost a bridesmaid in their wedding? If so, what did you do? Did you fill the spot or just leave it alone?

Yes, I did...She quit her job in June 2001 thinking she could get another one...well she hasn't yet...

I thought about adding, but didn't want anyone to think that they were second choice, so I didn't add anyone...I am having one of the BMs walk down with 2 GM...no big deal (she is loving it anyway)

Thanks yabbobay for your respose. That is how I feel. I wouldnt want that person to feel like second choice. Unfortunately I made the mistake of being nice and asking FH's sister and this is where it got me.

not to sound mean but i threw someone out of my bridal party-my own cousin. she is getting married in september & i am in may. she 'assumed' that it may be too much for me financially so she, in her own way, unasked me. i would think that would be for me to decide and not her!!! not only did she replace me with another cousin, but i'll never speak to her again. she hurt me too bad. i didn't replace er, instead i will have one of my bridesmaids walk to two gm, she will also be loving it!

jennbaby- I totally understand. Some people are so clueless of what class is and you cant change it. I will most likely go down the route of what you did since it is late to ask someone else. Thank you for sharing your story. It has been a rough week for me.

Cindy you know how I feel about this already but I thought I would post to you for more support. Your FSIL was out of line and mean! If you want to replace her you can. I don't think people feel second best. Mostly I think people feel honored no matter what. But you don't have to at all. I have an uneven bridal party, it just worked out that way. Your brother can walk his wife and your cousin up the aisle. It looks fine. I have seen it before.
I think you should do what makes you happy.
