I had a DNC and a Laporoscopy. You will not feel a thing throughout the procedure. As for the recuperating, I had pain but I don't which gave me greater pain......the DNC or the Lap.

I had a D&C in October. I had no pain/cramping or bleeding afterwards. And I was PG again 8 weeks later. I'm sorry you have to go through this! My wishes to you both!

My good friend had one a few weeks ago and she said it was a painless procedure. She did have some cramping and some bleeding after though. Her doctor told her to take at least 3 days off from work. She was 16 wks PG, I dont know if that makes a difference.

I think the worst part might be the mental anguish you put yourself through before hand if that makes sense.

My sister calls it a Dusting and Cleaning -- basically a 'vaccuum' procedure when you miscarry to get the fetus and placenta out of the uterus, clean sweep to start all over again.
Thanks gals, I feel a bit less anxious about it now. I'll let you know how it goes.

It really is NOTHING physically, emotionally, well that is another story.
I had one. I miscarried at 6.5 weeks. I took a few days off from work after, but I never needed them. I had no cramping/or bleeding. And I was back on my feet that evening...
Emotionally, I was a wreck..

Completely agree. My D&C happened at 3am, and I was discharged @ 10am. I didn't feel any pain, and had bleeding afterwards for 3 days (just like AF).
The physical was easy, was back on my feet immediately... but the emotional took some time. Absolutely horrible... wouldn't wish the trauma of a m/c on my worst enemy! I'm really sorry that you have to go through this.
PS: D&C means Dilation & Cutterage... in layman's terms, Dusting & Cleaning... Dilation = enlarging; Cutterage = scrapping. HTH!

Hi Karacg, I had one on Feb. 22. As everyone else has said the physical aspect of it wasn't a problem. I cramped the next day, bled for a couple. My first period came 5 weeks later.
The emotional aspect of it was a completely different story. When I found out that I had miscarried, no heartbeat heard during 2 transvaginals, I was a MESS!!!!!!!!!! By the time my dand C day arrived I was ready for it. I was ready to move on and wait for my two periods to start trying again.
You will be put under anaesthesia, it takes around 20-30 minutes. You will need to be in recovery for awhile until your BP goes back up. I was there from 730AM till around 5pm. Good luck and I hope you mend quickly!!!!!!
