Has anyone had their cell phone or other means on during the wedding...
...in order to relay the ceremony to someone who couldn't be there? I'm so unbelievably sad that my grandmother most likely won't be at my wedding, and we're trying to find a way for her to be there at the same time with us, and are considering the various ways to do that. All we've come up with so far, within our monetary means and since we don't own a satelite truck (), is having a cell phone with us or the rabbi so that she can listen to the ceremony as it's happening.
Has anyone done this or something similar to it?
ETA: I should probably be posting this to the women who are already married. Durr!

We thought about doing this for my grandmother & grandfather (both had pneuonia & could not go ) but with the reception tht cell phones get we thought it was not worth it.... Like if the phone cut out (which it does very often in that neigborhood) no one would know & then what....she would call back???
we jut got the video for them. not the same but they seemed to agree it was enough.

I just really need for her to be there with us, you know? We still don't know if she will have to stay in Florida, but chances are, she's not going to be able to travel after such major surgery and serious recouperation.
At least it will make it original and different, right? FMIL said she's thinking of calling the news stations to see if they'll take pity on us and set up a satelite feed for us.

It can't hurt....it might make for a good human interest story.
Maybe one of those cable shows, Like a Wedding story - if you let them do the whole wedding.....

Sure! Think they'll set it up with, oh, about 22 days to go?

Our friends did that at their wedding last year when the bride's grandmother got very sick and couldn't come. They had someone under the chuppah hold it and the grandma said she heard most of it. Just make sure you have a decent sound system. It's a great idea.

What a great idea. My grandmother cant come up to my wedding due to illness and I think you just gave me a great idea. Thanks and I hope your grandmother gets well soon.

a friend of mine has a cell phone on the altar so that her dad who was dying could hear the ceremony.

FH owns a technology consulting company. If there was a way we could do this, we would, but it requires an extraordinarily large amount of bandwidth that I seriously doubt they'll have at the hotel in a ballroom. I wish we could do it - Grandma's pretty good with the computer.
