Re: Has anyone had their wedding at the Thatched Cottage?

I didn't have my wedding there but my sister-in-law did a little over 1 ago. It was beautiful and the food was good but not anything special. I did like the upstairs room better than the basement room. The basement was a very odd shaped room and it was hard to hear and see everything going on. The other thing that happened was 4 chairs broke throughout the night with 4 different guests sitting in them. It wasn't just 'heavy' people either. So maybe they have updated the chairs since then.

went to a wedding, and now having mine there!!

I went to a wedding a few years ago, and was so impressed by the food and service, that we booked it for our wedding in June!
We really thought, based on the service and all the food they give you, that a wedding there would be way out of our budget. But surprisingly, it is very reasonable!
The food is excellent, and the service is even better. (and this is coming from someone who is VERY particular about both) I definitely recommend the chateau briand...it melts in your mouth!!
Did you go there and speak to anyone? Are you even looking for yourself, you didn't mention. If you are, go there to hear what they offer the bride and groom...it is really is out of control!!!

Went to a wedding there

I recently attended a wedding at the Thatched Cottage and my FH and I thought it was very nice. We both enjoyed the food and the way they served the food was very interesting (they toss the salad in the middle of the room, add the dressing so that everyone sees and then have the servers come to the tables to serve it). The only complaint that some people had, which may not be a big deal to many people, was that there was no bar in the room. There were many drinkers who were impatient about waiting for the waitress to bring the drinks back for them. Other than that, everyone had a great time. The service and food were both great.

going in july

I have a wedding to go there in july Ill let you know if you are still undecided. I actually looked at it though during my search and wasnt that impressed either, the room was impractical to me, long and odd shaped and only one bar all the way on one side, i just didnt see how this would work well. I dont know about the other room they only showed me the larger one.

I went to a wedding there in November and I thought it was so-so. It was night, so we couldn't see the beautiful water views that they have.

The food was good. I've had better and worse. We were in the basement room, so there is no bar there.

The cocktail hour was nice.

I have never actually attended a wedding there, but a friend married there about 3 years ago, and had nothing but great things to say when I started looking at reception halls. So my FH and I went and fell in love with it...although the prices were reasonable, they were a little higher than we could afford. We may have splurged, but it was also a little too far (all his family is in Nassau and mine in Westchester)....otherwise, we both really loved it. Good luck!

Check time of year/day and the tide schedule - low tide is a bit stinky there
