I was thinking about lowering my guarantee for my catering hall but i already signed the contracts. Do you think they will do it for me eventhough i already signed the contract? we want to save a little money and invite less.

Highly doubted that they will allow you to lower it, but it never hurts to ask

ditto
you signed the countract with that # -- if you can manage to get them to lower it--i'd count that as a miracle!

I have this problem too :(
We already called once before the rsvp's were due and they said no way.
Now that the rsvp's are in and we are way below our minimum maybe they will take pity on us?
It is making me miserable and every day more people cancel.

Re: Has anyone had this problem?
I already posted on this, but I have heard of girls talking with their RHs and getting something thrown in, whether it was table linens, etc. to make up for the difference

I had the same problem. Unfortunately they probably won't lower it for you. But they might be nice and throw in some extras if you don't meet your minimum.

We had the same problem. Every day I would read list of new response cards from my mom and she'd respond with 'oh this is terrible' or 'well, that was unexpected'
We're about 35 short right now and the catering manager responded 'hopefully more people off your B and C lists will pull through in the next couple of weeks'. Most places seem to be willing to throw in a few extras as 'credits' to compensate. It also depends on the place, how many rooms they have, and if the room they chose for you was based on the number of people you guaranteed. On the bright side, you can save money on other things: favors, CPs, etc.

It's terrible. Which room are you in at Jericho Terrace, that is my venue too!

Doesn't hurt to ask, but don't be surprised if the hall says no. If the minimum has to stay the same, maybe you can get some extras thrown in if you're under your count.

Since we guaranteed for 180 and it's a slow week we have the Dome for the reception, and the Skylight and Garden rooms for the ceremony and CH. We've come to grips with having to pay for empty seats, but with 30 missing from 180 in a room that can hold 210 I'm worried about it looking a little sparse.
What about you? When we checked two weeks ago they still had no other affairs during our time slot, we're crossing our fingers for it staying that way - hopefully you'll have the same luck being on the other side of Christmas.
