MY daughter has had fluid in her ears since Feb. of this year. They wanted a few months to go by to see if it would clear up on it's own - however, it hasn't. Has anyone experienced this and can give me some insight. Thanks, Tara

I had it done when I was about 7 or 8 years old (about 25 years ago). From what I remember I went to LIJ in the morning and was home later that afternoon/early evening. I don't remember being in pain at all.

I don't have experience with anyone having it done that I know personally, but I used to work for a pediatrician and I know that this procedure is pretty common.

my husband had it done was he was a toddler, I think he was 2 or 3. and this was almost 30 years ago due to same problem. His mother tells me it cleared up all his problems.

I had tubes in BOTh of my ears! Of course it was almost 20 years ago but he definitely helps draining the fluid.

My stepdaughter had this done earlier this year (she's 4) and everything went great. It was a painless procedure, she went in to the hospital to have them put in and was home resting a couple hours later. She suffered from a bunch of ear infections and was sick all the time (it seemed like). Since the tubes were put in, she's had the sniffles once, that's it! The only new thing she has to do is put in some ear-plugs when she goes swimming. The tubes have worked out great in our case. Good luck with your little one, I hope she feels better!

I had tubes put in both my ears when I was 5....34 years ago and I thank god my parents did it. I had HORRIBLE ear aches and would not have been able to get any water in my ears therefore never be able to swim. Back when I had it done, I was in the hospital over night (mom told me that one!) I have never suffered from another ear ache again except when I had an infection on my ear drum a few years back.
