That is supposed to hit NY and be as bad as Katrina? They say NY is not ready for this. What are we going to do?

Re: Has anyone heard about the storm?
I woudln't worry about it to much a)theres nothing you can reallydo but move (but evrey area you can move to has problems) b)the news is a business like all others.. they sensationalize EVERYTHING these days.. bird flu? 100 people dead world wide?? they said millions would die.. the list goes on and on ... but take it with a grain of salt girls...

It is a very scary thought but they have been saying all of this for a long time. I do get nervous hearing about it but I try not to think about it b/c it will just consume you totally. We will be ok!

Im not going to worry now but if they say evacuate make sure you do so. I was in New Orleans when Katrina hit and barely escaped. I wouldnt want to do that again!!!

You can;t worry about things like this. There is no guarantee this will happen this year, or even 5 or 10 years from now. Averages are just that. There's no such thing as being 'due' for a storm.
Also we would never have a storm as large as Katrina up here. The water is too cold to support a Catergory 5.

Thinking about it makes me sick. Especially when I think of the safety of my children

This is really scary. I heard about it on the radio yesterday, not something I wanna think about. Lets just all pray that it ends up being alot smaller then they say it will be.

I totally agree- just like every snow storm in the 'blizzard of the century' please- they are trying to sell newspapers and get ratings
when they actually have the storm on the radar- I will worry about it then-
I am sure we have a great chance for a terrosit attack then a 'Super Hurricane'

I agree. And as was stated in an earlier post, our waters are too cold for us to get a category 5. And if it does happen to happen, just make sure you have a bike handy because there ain't no way in heck all of LI will get out by car! But it is scary to think it could happen.

If it happens it happens, nothing all of us worrying about it possibly five years in advance going to do to stop it.
Hopefully we will all have learned something from Katrina and if we are told to evacuate, we will.
I totally agree....nothing we could do about it now. I went to school in Miami and survived several 'Major' hurricane threats.
