Has anyone heard of or done Custom Manicure?

So I was reading in Modern Bride, they dye your nails and it bonds to the nail so the manicure lasts 3 to 4 weeks and it's suppose to make your nails nearly indestructible, so basically if you did it the week of the wedding it should last well past the honeymoon???

If you've had it done, where? and how much did it cost you?

Here is an article on I found on the web

I think this is what I had done. My place calls it a 'permanent french manicure' and it's $60 the first time and $35 for fill-ins.

I've never had tips or silk wraps and don't quite understand if it's similar, but here's what they do:
they take a piece of paper (maybe it's silk? I dunno) and put it on top of your nail. Then they put some kind of Crazy Glue type stuff on top of it. Then they use the little mechanical buffer to scrape it. Then they put another layer of paper and do the same thing.

After they're done buffing, they paint the white french manicure line and cover it with some kind of gel. Then they put a white crystal power over that and tap off the excess. More buffing ensues Then they put on the clear gel again and put a pale pink crystal power over the nail. More buffing. Lastly, they put a coat of pale nail polish over the entire nail.

I had it for the wedding and it was awesome. It really doesn't chip AT ALL. I had them for the entire honeymoon and they only started to look a little bad the last few days, but that was because I broke one of them a little when I was snorkeling. The ones from my nail place last 2 weeks and then you have to go for the fill-in, but that's mostly because your nail grows so there's space between the paper they put on you and your 'new' nail. That's not too bad, but sometimes the 'paper' (not really paper anymore because it's hard and multi-layered) lifts up -- this happened the first time I had it done but that was probably because I waited 3 weeks. My nails kept getting caught in my hair whenever I tried to run them through.

Hope this helps

I had a permanent french donw this way but they didnt dye my nails in any way. They put like a powdery gell like substance on my nail. The thinner the better!

I loved the permanent french but let me tell you if you plan on having them taken off good luck! It was like a bad trip to the dentist! YOur nails underneath will be very soft and rip so put silk on afterwards!

I recommend silk!!!

They put a very thin layer of fabric silk on your nails and then paint them. The nail polish doesnt chip and you can let it just grow out because your nails are still thin. So far I love it!!

i had a permanent french done before the wedding --i think it was $90 the first time --i really didn't like it. they kept chipping and i had to go back to have a few replaced instead of the normal 'fill in' --it was pricey...i finally took them off after the honeymoon (they didn't last) and my nails are still recovering --they are so weak...
