Has anyone here felt the need to get a flu shot?
Considering the circumstances I would rather someone older or a baby have the chance at getting one
What are your opinions on this

Re: Has anyone here felt the need to get a flu shot?
I do get it every year because the years I have not, I have gotten the flu. One of the parents in our school who is a doctor donates enough flu vaccines every year for all the teachers and staff in our school, so we all got them. I, personally, feel that it's necessary for myself. Others, it may not be necessary.

Re: Has anyone here felt the need to get a flu shot?
I've never gotten one and I doubt I ever will. Why would I subject myself to an injection if I dont' have to?
ANd since there are so many people out there who need/want them....I'll accept my illnesses as they come to me

I have never gotten it. I have also heard of so many people who have gotten the flu from getting the flu shot.

Re: Has anyone here felt the need to get a flu shot?
Well, they say you can get sick if you have a cold or other illness when getting the shot, but I've never gotten sick from it. It's not live anti-bodies, unless you do the nasal one. I have very bad asthma, and I fear pneumonia, so getting the flu shot for me is important.

Re: Has anyone here felt the need to get a flu shot?
I usually get it every year. North Shore Hospital usually comes to my company and gives them out, just not this year. I will just continue with taking Zinc and Echinacea

Re: Has anyone here felt the need to get a flu shot?
I was going to because I dont want the flu for my wedding but I wont this year because of the shortage, I feel older people and kids should get them..but I also think Teachers should get them, they can easily infect so many before they even know what they have,

Re: Has anyone here felt the need to get a flu shot?
I've never gotten one, probably never will. My step-father always told me that there are so many mutations that you could still get another strand even if you get the shot...I figured I won't subject myself to it since it's really not neccessary....

I think this is the first time that I agree with DJ.
I have not found enough evidence to support bothering with a flu shot.

Re: Has anyone here felt the need to get a flu shot?
I never have gotten one & probably will...No one likes to be sick, but I think there are people out there especially the elderly & very young that deserve it & need it more then me...If I get the flu, I just deal with it!

Re: Has anyone here felt the need to get a flu shot?
I got one...I just happend to be at my doctor getting a referral and he asked me if I wanted the shot. I just assumed I couldn't get one this year....but I did get one last year.I kind of feel guilty about it now...but I really didn't even go to the doctor for it.

Re: Has anyone here felt the need to get a flu shot?
I agree with a lot of you - I never got one and am not going out of my way to find one this year. I thought about since I am pregnant and they say you should but I typically stay pretty healthy and there are so many elderly, handicap, ill, care takers, etc. who should get them before me. I would feel too guilty taking one from them. If they weren't in scarce supply, I would consider it only because I am pregnant.

Re: Has anyone here felt the need to get a flu shot?
I feel that way too. Plus healthy people from 5 - 49 can benefit from the flu inhaler, too.I havne't had the shot in 3 years. I havent gotten it at all.
I originally thought year might be worse since less will have the shot but then again you can carry it and transmit the flu to others even when you are immune, so who knows if flu season will be worse this year than others.
I'll take my chances, I think.

Re: Has anyone here felt the need to get a flu shot?
I'll tell ya, I normally do not promote the idea of vaccinations....it seems downright silly to me to put a disease in your body in the hopes of preventing it, but last year my grandmother didn't get her flu/pneumonia vaccination & missed my wedding b/c she was in the hospital with sever pneumonia. Ironically she got sick from the receptionist at the doctor's office getting her iron shot the week before my wedding to make sure she was healthy.
