I'm looking for a recommendation to hire a bagpiper for my upcoming wedding..anyone out there that can recommend one? How about average cost? Thanks!

We had a bagpiper and a drummer at the church for my wedding. I'll have to get their names from my mom, but they totally helped out in a pinch when my original contact flaked on me two weeks before the wedding. I believe the bagpiper was $150, which was the price that I had been quoted from the other group too.

We will have one, but he's free. My cousin plays and is awesome!
He'll play outside the church before and after, and he'll also play a couple songs at the reception right before dessert.

fh isn't really for it. He 'had a bad experience' with one (whatever that means )
however against his will my father has asked a friend of his from the firehouse to play at the ch (since it will mainly be outside).....my dad is taking care of it. I never heard this man play before but I'm sure it will be ok! (I hope):

Not hiring one... a family friend is doing it for me. he does it for all family occassions! he is awesome... he will be piping outside the church as well as briefly at the reception
if you need, i can find out if he knows people that do it 'on the side' as he is in a couple of pipe bands. i would say anywhere between $150-$300 would be a reasonable amount to spend depending on how far they have to travel, how much you're havign them play, etc. etc.
