Received a notice in the mail last week that they reassesed your property for school taxes beginning in October 2006. We have to pay another $800....I feel like they just reassesed us like a year ago....does this happen every tax year???

We got ours too. I think everyone gets it every year. It's the school and local taxes, which aren't finalized until after your local school budget vote.

Happens in Suffolk, too.
Every year since we've been in our house, our taxes have been raised .. usually a minimal amount .. like $30. Last year we were slammed big time .. about $700 .. and keep in mind .. nothing was done to our house.
If this keeps up .. we're going to end up being taxed right out of our house!!!

Our assessment on our house went up a lot and our taxes went down!! (but our taxes were way too high - much higher than our neighbors for some reason and the previosu owner didn't do anything about it - so with eth past few assessments - - they are getting more down to LI reality!!)

I freaked out about this. Like I pay enough taxes right now. If you look at the letter you can appeal it. My taxes are going up 1300.00!!!!!!!!! We are definately doing this as soon as my home is put into our names in the next few weeks. ( My Mom and Dad have passed and we are buying out my sister for her half of the house )
