Visited 1 Reception Hall and knew that was it? and didnt look anywhere else?

I opersonally haven't, but one of my BM did that... looked at a few online, went to one that she picked out, went back there in a week and booked!

We are the king & queen of over analyzation, so even after finding one we both liked we looked at 1 more. This was after the previous 27 though....

We did... We looked at ours, and knew it was 'the one' We had an appointment for another and FH didnt even want to go. Once I was there I wished we didnt go. We booked the next day

I've been to so many weddings on LI, i knew what I liked and what I didn't. as soon as I walked into my RH I knew that was it. I didn't need to look any further.

Yes we did. I have actually been to a lot of the RH's in Long Island and NYC because I used to do wedding photography so I knew the ones I have been to was not what I was looking for. A fellow LIW bride told me about the Riviera and I had never heard of it before and once I went there I knew it was the one. Took FH a couple of weeks later to show it to him and he loved too. We booked with them not too long after (we wanted to show FIL's before booking).

FH and I looked at a bunch of RH's websites and fell in love with WCC ... then we went in person and booked on the spot. I have no regrets We both still LOVE it

I am a bit worried as I am interested in only 1 specific day for 2011 and dont want to fall in love with the hall (that from online seems to be my fav) and book immediately. But i also dont want to waste the time looking at other places and loose the date i have in mind.

yep! i walked into the vineyard caterers and just knew. and the funniest thing is that i had never even heard of it until a friend recommended it a few weeks before.

i think what helped out a lot was reading the bride's review section of LIW, and seeing fellow LIW brides' posts with pricing...I was able to rule out a bunch just from what i read online. i'm telling you- this website is going to save me soooo much time visiting vendors. with enough research i can cut my list down to people i KNOW i'll like. i think a previous bride's recommendation/review/gripe/complaint is the best way to find out about a vendor.


did anyone else do a lot of research on RHs/vendors instead of just going and meeting them?

I Did!!! We walked in and we knew automatically this place was the one! And we're not ones to actually just say ok this is it! We have to look at every nook and cranny and take EVERY scenario into consideration.

I can kinda relate - in my heart i really wanted my RH but when doing my research the date that I really wanted was already booked!!!!

FH and I picked one weekend and we went to 4 RH's - in that bunch was the Riviera, it was the last one and I was so angry when we pulled up b/c I really didnt like the other 3 and knew that the date we wanted was already booked so i felt going was almost a waste. But FH said 'this is a learning experience it's going to help us' - we walked in and just fell in love and then I got even more angry lol. I really didn't think to change the date b/c my heart and mind was set - but we changed the date

When you know - you just know!!!

We did too!!! We only went to Westbury Manor and no where else. We had other appointments but WM was out first stop. Once we walked in we knew it was the place. We loved the look of the place and the feel we got. The staff was so nice and accomodating that we couldnt believe we could do any better for the entire pacakage. We booked the same night.

I did when I booked my original hall. I looked there, kept one other appointment we had and went back to book. Through circumstAnces we ended up switching halls and I looked at 3 more, but once I saw my new hall, my whole family knew that was it

It's not the best thing because it's a hall I wasn't even going to look at because I knew it was out of my budget, but my sister made me look, and then there was no way I was having my wedding anywhere else

we did! We went to the Woodlands and fell in love so we booked!

i had done tons of research before hand so i saw most places on line and ruled many out...but that was the only place we actually visited!

I went to 6 total. BUT, Stewart Manor was the 4th one we looked at. I knew as soon as I walked in, I pictured us dancing out first dance right away, but FH wanted to look at more 'for good measure' LOL. But, I think that even if I had seen only smcc, I would have still known!

the hall that we choose was our first one, i went to a few others jsut to make sure, but so far the wedding process has been pretty good to me, ive just known that it was right,,, if your gut tells you this is the one, chances are, thats the rh

Yes! For as long as I can remember, I wanted to have my reception at Dowling. It was the only place we went to, and it was perfect!
