If so, how much did you charge on top of the cost of materials? I'm trying to price out a quote for someone who approached me about designing their invites. Thanks!

You need to figure out what your time is worth. I used to do custom favors (candy wrappers, bubbles, etc.) And I had a flat rate for each item, but only after I figured my time into it...

Someone asked me to do their invites too but after I calculated the cost of material and my time, it's cheaper for them to purchase from a vendor. Plus I have so many DIY projects of my own I really don't have time for anything else.
I guess if you want to make some extra money for the wedding I would give them a quote based on the following: 1) your hourly rate for design X number of hours 2) your hourly rate for assembly X number of hours 3) the cost of materials 4) the time you spend shopping and the transportation to buy all the materials.
