Has anyone or know anyone who has had to....

Put their wedding off 4months before the wedding due to finances. I might have to for the 4th time(not 4times 4months before)just 4times I've had to change the date with the hall. They told me if I changed it again(when I changed it to this time)that I would have to pay penalties. I just dont know what else to do right now this might be my only option. Hoping this isnt the case just want to be prepared.

how much more money do you owe out? is it possible to take out a loan that you can pay back after the wedding is over?

A loan might be a better option - you won't have to worry about penalties then ...

So sorry you are going through this!

First, before you push it off, seriously sit down and go over your finances and WHAT you have to put away per week to do it. Also, call your vendors that require payment in full but you still have to do things after the wedding-ie. Photographer, video and see if there is a way that you can make payments after the wedding.

Good Luck, I hope that you dont have to push it off

I hope you don't have to push it off!!

I agree, go over your finances and figure out what else you need to pay for. Make a spreadsheet and figure out what is due when. Also see if theres any way you can take on another job, sell some stuff on ebay, cut corners on things, and minimize your spending.

Write down everything you spend and figure out where you can cut back.

Talk to your family members and see if anyone can loan you $$$ until after the wedding. You should get a bunch of gift $$ that will help you pay it off.

Consider postposing or scaling back your honeymoon. Look into DIYing things or bartering services with smaller vendors.

Worst case, you can look into a 'real' loan if you really need to. Ideally you'd be able to pay it back in 4 months, so the interest wouldn't be that bad.

It might end up costing more to change your date again --- fees for switching, non-refundable purchases, invitations, anything with your date on it, OOTers who booked flights and hotel rooms, etc.

I hope you can work things out!

thats a good idea. vendors like the photographer and videographer dont require final payment till you pick up the item. maybe ur florist may help a bit also re: the final payment? it never hurts to ask.

Re: Has anyone or know anyone who has had to....

Thanks girls! Im with you I really dont want to put it off. I've been planning this wedding for 4yrs. I have already approached my mother and she said she doesnt have it(but she called me to tell me she is going on a trip from fla. to penn. in 2 weeks)DH's mom doesnt even want to hear about the wedding let alone lend money to us. She will help with anything else, utilities, rent, etc. if you asked her but not the wedding. There is no one else to ask. I will know more next week when I do my taxes. I have already told two of my girls that I will pay them back for the dresses if it comes down to it and not to buy plane tickets yet. I just cant believe this is happening again. I have the money for the hall it's paying off my other vendors I have a problem with. I thought about a loan but I cut my hours at work down for school so I dont think I'd get one now and I've maxed all my credit cards(planned on paying those right after the wedding)and DH has a judgement that will be taken care of but probably not in time for a loan. I tell ya about 2 months ago things were going along as planned and now Thanks for listening and advice and please feel free to FM me if you have any other ideas. I'll def. let you k now next week what happens.
