I just went to the Flower District in NYC 4 days ago. I'm personally using silk orchids...Some I bought online & some in the flower district. BUT FOR FRESH ORCHIDS, THE FLOWER DISTRICT HAS SEVERAL STORES THAT HAD NOTHING BUT FRESH ORCHIDS - DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!!! They don't want you to even touch them! Totally worth the trip especially if you want something a over the top...jaw dropping!
I forgot to mention, YES I have ordered fresh orchids many times for my mother (& still do) she lives in FL....from http://www.hawaiian-tropical-flowers.com/index.html & they always are packed well, come with directions & I love that they have a lot to choose from & not too $$.
