I am helping a friend plan a destination wedding. We are in the beginning stages. Has anyone gotten any quotes? She is flexible with location though she thinks she would prefer a beach locale.
TIA

Re: Has anyone priced any destination weddings?
Is she thinking Caribbean or something else? Prices range drastically depending on where and what kind of wedding you are going for. For the Caribbean there are some great resources out there: lovetripper.com, destination weddings, islandbride, that are good resources. Also you can contact the specific destinations departments of tourism for more information. Most of the Departments of Tourism or PR firms are located in New York.
Most hotels have an onsite coordinator that helps you with the entire planning process.

I actually looked at Mexico. The prices weren't too terrible but then there are required blood tests ($150 pp) English to Spanish translations of all documents ($45 per page)you had to be there a certain number of days prior to ceremony. It all started to add up quickly and it didn't come out to be that much less expensive.

I had originally looked to get married and have my honeymoon at one of the Sandals locations and it wound up being quite expensive. I think it was somewhere in or around the 10k range.

your best bet is to talk to a travel agent- the prices run the gamut and they will be able to find something in your friend's price range

If she's interested in the Caribbean, weddings on St. Thomas range between $500-$3000 depending on what she wants.

Re: Has anyone priced any destination weddings?
I was looking at destination wedding sites when i first started planning and it dependson how much you book. e.g. a ceremony is about $500, reception can range from $0-$100 pp (I say 0 b/c i know someone who did one at an all inclusive and didn't pay anything for the food at the reception FM me for more details)
a susset BBQ on the beach (day after or day before) might be about $60 pp and there are tons of things you can add. I priced it out for 50 ppl and our HM and it came out to about 10K in most of the caribbean and mexican hotels. most hotels give you two or three free nighs stays for yourself since they know you'll bring guests and spend extra $$.
i think it's a great idea and wish i would have done it, even though i'm planning a beautiful wedding here. i still think you get the most out of your $$ and if ppl can't go you can throw a BBQ or restaurant party when you come back.

$0 dollars per person! We should all have destination weddings! I'm going to one this weekend in Mexico... cost us $3500 for 3 days and we still have to give an envelope... smart bride, silly us!
