has anyone registered yet?

has anyone registered yet?

I haven't... I'm having such a hard time getting out to do it!! I feel like its going to be so hard... we don't need the stuff yet, so if people get us gifts, they are just going to go in storage for a year until we get a place... and what if better stuff comes out closer to our wedding and shower?

what do you girls think? have any of you registered yet?

no, we haven't registered. but we got a crapload of stuff from our e-party in july. we will most likely register in nov or dec this year. we are going to crate and barrel and bed, bath and beyond.

nope, we haevnt registered yet...

heres antother question. well....i heard that liberty trave had a 'honeymoon fund' so like you book your honeymoon with them and then people just put money right into that for you honeymoon.....

we dont want to do this (b/c we are paying for that with other money)...but i thought it was a good idea to throw out there for all you other brides.

ok, my question is that somewhere along the line i heard something about a 'house fund'. its something along those same lines....like rather than give you cash, your guests could give money towards the purchase of your first house directly. (this would of course be in addition to a registry...and we would ask for guests to do this but just throw it out there as an option). I have gotten mixed reviews on this though...some people think its tacky (my mom), some people think its great. I think if i was going to a wedding with that i would do it and i would love it. what do you all think???

Yeah, we just did it this weekend actually, sunder much pressure from my mom who says everyone is asking her where we are yregistered. So I figured, hey they want to get us gifts, they might as well get us something we will want!!
It was pretty exhausting though, caused minor arguments with FH, but also kind of fun to scan all the stuff!!
We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Fortunoff's.

Ready for this?

One week after getting engaged! Were we ready or what?!

We did because FMIL was asking us to - 2 hours after getting engaged! No joke!

I've gotten about 5 presents off of it already!

I have heard of this and might consider it. I think it might be too non-traditional for many people.

We haven't yet. I don't feel comfortable doing that yet since we don't know where we're going to live. I'm in a restricted space already- I can't imagine storing gifts! We have gotten small things from close friends and relatives and we've loved them all!
We haven't had an e-party yet but I think I'm going to register much after that and closer to the wedding.

Re: has anyone registered yet?

We did some online right after we got engaged (we've been engaged for over a year) and then we've added more in the store and tweaked it online here and there. The only things you really can't do ahead of time are linens and towels b/c they're seasonal, so they tell you to do those 3-4 weeks ina dvance. I tink registering early is a blessing. Right after my sister got engaged and ebfore she'd registered people sent her gifts, NONE of it matched her tatse and now she's stuck with a lof of stuff she doens't really like. On the other hand, I registered early and I've gotten quite a few things off my registry already (birthdya,s xmas, engagement gifts), and really nothing I didn't want, so I think it's a real blessing. It was so easy to pick my china patterns and stuff, so if I were you I'd at LEAST register for china, because people always look to buy that. I have 2 years until the wedding and I am so happy that I already ahve 3 place settings of fine china and a gorgeous platter among other odds and ends. it can be annoying to try to store all of the stuff, but it's great to make it easy for people to buy you things you will like and treasure, rather than having to deal with the awkwardness of deciding to return or keep things you really don't like. At least register for a few pieces. Fortunoff ahs a thing right now where if you mention a current bride's name (FM me for details), and you register you and that bride will get a $50 gift card. pretty sweet, right? I think it's a good idea to register for the basic stuff early. china, flatware, glassware, crystal, luggage. FH and I really had a great time, and it was the first fun thing we got to the as an engaged couple. it's really a good time! good luck!

Not yet, we are actually going to do it at the 1 year mark....I was told not to do it so early bc then you have to stay on top of it incase things get discontinued...We have received quite a bit of gifts from the time we got engaged...

Re: has anyone registered yet?

That is on our list of things to do in February.

Since we all know how overly organized I am I have compiled a giant registry list & we have already chosen Macys, Crate & Barrel and Bed, Bath and BEyond. I have gone on their websites and chosen things that I like (barware, appliances, flatware, etc.) and added it to my list. THis way, when we go, we have a guideline of stuff I already likeform each place! We can always chose something else once we are there but I think it will make it easier this way!

Good luck!

We were registered two weeks after getting engaged. Everybody kept asking where we were registered so we just went and did it.

We received quit a few gifts off of it...but unfortunately we have to store them at FMIL house because we just don't have the room

Re: has anyone registered yet?

I think we are going to register in the spring. We have decided (for now at least!) to register at Fortunoff, Willams-Sonoma (at the request of my FH!), and either Macy's or Crate and Barrel. I know FH is looking forward to scanning the items!

I have heard of people having a house registry. I personally think this is a good idea and I would definitely use it if someone I knew registered there. I think it would be great knowing that my gift was really useful and needed!

Re: has anyone registered yet?

We registered at Fortunoff. I knew I wanted to register there b/c I worked there for 3 years while I was living and going to school at Hofstra.

We only registered for china, dinnerware, crystal, some lenox frames, etc. Just mainly the first floor. I am so glad we did b/c we got about 15 items off our registry so far! And yes...my spare computer room is becoming our storage space. My dad is like this is going to just grow over the next 1 1/2 years!

We figured we'd finish registering in January 2006 b/c by then we will hopefully know where we will be living! Bedding & certain appliances tend to become discontinued frequently, so I would leave those items for the very end.

Re: has anyone registered yet?

We haven't...we'll porbably start this time next year...I heard not to start around christmas because alot of the items stores have are seasonal...meaning they'll be gone before February gets there...also we have no place to live...I don't want to store everything up at my moms house from now until the end of 2006

Re: has anyone registered yet?

We have began registering. I feel like it is a process. My parents are throwing us an engagment party in March so everyone was like you have to register. We have started registering at Bed, Bath... and the other place we are going to is Fortunoff (this weekend).

Question: We are getting married at Jericho Terrace any opinions/comments? We are beginning to book different vendors any suggestions (photo, flowers, dj, video, etc).

Thanks Good Luck to all!!

Re: has anyone registered yet?

We haven't regstered yet. We pretty much got $ as engagment gifts (didn't have a party) and probably won't be getting any other gifts until the shower, so we figured we have time. If we had large families we probably would have registered sooner than later
