has anyone stayed at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel or Beach Club in Maui???

We're considering staying there for 6 nights, and then we might do 2 nights at the Sheraton Princess in Oahu (or possibly the Hilton Hawaiin Village instead). We could also do the Kaanapali Beach Club in Maui but that would be $500 more.

If you've stayed at any of these places pls let me know what your experience was....or if you're booked at any of these and have input pls feel free to share

Oh and I just ordered my Hawaii entertainment book, should I wait until I get it to book our trip?? Not sure if there is hotel coupons in there?

thanks for helping a very confused bride!!! All this honeymoon info really seems overwhelming!!!

I agree that you should check out trip advisor. My FH and I are using his parents time share and are going to try to get in at either the Westin or the Marriott in that kaanapli (sp?). I read that it is an awesome beach!! And it is near a great town! In know someone who lived in Maui and she said it is a great beach, btu a very touristy area- but hey! We will be tourists so I figure thats okay. :)

I've stayed at both the Kaanapali Beach Hotel and the Sheraton Princess Though I went there 6 years ago I'll try to help you with information. My sister went to both hotels two years before me and my HS has planned the same trip to these hotels since the 80's. The planner of our trip has been to Hawaii more times then anyone could dream of and has remained with these hotels because of their value. I loved the Kaanapali because it was what I thought Hawaii would be like. It was authentic. You'll see that all the hotels around the Kaanapali are luxury. I love luxury but it for me the Kaanapali was comforting and felt like a true Hawaiian experience. The people who run the Kaanapali are amazing. The location is also great. The hotel is right on the beach and steps from the village and one of my favorite restaurants the Hula Grill. I don't think you'll be disappointed in the Kaanapali Beach Hotel.

I believe the Sheraton Princess is the same I stayed at, the Sheraton Princess Kaulani? Honestly the hotel was a great value but I would have like to have been on the beach. Oahu is already more city like and without a beach at times I was a little bummed. The hotel is also next to a shopping market so you'll hear music all day if your on that side. I loved it but you might not.

FM me if you want to know more!

Re: has anyone stayed at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel in Maui???

thank you sooooo very much for all of that information and for sharing your experience w/ each hotel!!!

I spoke to FH tonight, he is leaning towards the Kaanapali Beach Club (versus the Beach Hotel) because the room would be a better view for the price (instead of a garden view that comes w/ the Beach Hotel).....and also our travel agent got breakfast to be included at the Beach Club, and they have a 'happy hour' every night, where for 2 hours, drinks are free!!! the price is only around $300 or so more than the Beach Hotel.....so we might end up there.

As for the Sheraton Princess- for the same reason you cited (city view), we will opt for the Hilton Hawaiin Village or the Sheraton Moana Surfrider......both of those have ocean views.

thank you very much for sharing!!! I really appreciate it!!

im pretty sure we went to the same hs because i went on the same exact senior trip easter break 7 years ago (as did mt god mother in 1987...lol) anyway i totally agree i loved the kaanapali in maui and the people we awesome. it was totally a great place very relaxing and like the previous poster said exactly what you expect hawaii to be. as for Oahu i wasnt to crazy about it. personally i didnt think waikiki beach was anything to write home about it was just a pretty island than nyc but a city none the less it was worth going for pearl harbor though we're planning a hawaii hm also because fh has never been and like i said i was there 7 years ago but i think im skipping oahu this time around....good luck tho.

Sounds wonderful!!! You'll have a great time no matter where you are as long as there is a beach near! I can't wait to go back with FH someday. When I went I loved that I was with my friends but knew I wanted to return when I was in love b/c it's romantic!!

thanks!!! I think we will be booking The Sheraton Moana in Oahu (across the street from the Princess) and the Kaanapali Beach Hotel in Maui. your insight was definitely helpful!! I read similar things about KBH on tripadviser- that the staff is great and treats you like family and that the hotel doesn't have the cookie cutter feel of so many others. I'm so excited!!!
