Has anyone used Davids Bridal

Has anyone used Davids Bridal

Hi girls...
Has anyone used David's Bridal?
Or recommend a bridal gown store for an informal wedding dress and limited budget?
I'm thinking of wearing a white bridesmaid dress -your thoughts...
Thanks,
Arlene

They have nice dresses for reasonable prices. I do NOT recommend them beyond that. They are not very organized and often VERY short staffed to the point that they have been known to lose dresses. I did get my dress and BM dresses there, but refuse to have them do the alterations...and I found a cheaper price elsewhere anyway. Keep all receipts and keep a log of when you go, when you call and who you speak to....it helps.

I had a great experience ordering from them... my dress was on sale, it was under 500 ... and came in new and quickly.. (ordered feb came in march)...

I used the one in NJ (btw wedding gowns are included in tax free clothing that jersey has !).. so that saves some $$ too...

Based on the number of horror stories I heard especially for alterations, I skipped them.

Darn!! I wish I had thought of that!!!!!!

I ordered in Westbury.
Same thing. Came in quickly in good condition. Good selection of dresses.

however, I will not get my alterations there.

I bought a bridesmaid dress from them.

I think they have very pretty dresses but the fabrics are not of the highest quality. I felt the fabric felt a little scratchy.

I bought my dress from them and had a good experience...I am not sure if i will get anything else from them though. I will probably have alterations done at the place where i get all my alterations done.

Re: Has anyone used Davids Bridal

we went to try on BM dresses had them all picked out dress was placed in my folder etc.... my sister went to put down her deposit and we were told the dress is no longer available...hasnt been for some time and that the sales girl that helped me should have told me that...so i wasted an entire evening in there and got no where. Plus when i was in there trying dresses on I felt rushed and i didnt find the staff very helpful.

BTW my sis ordered a BM dress in whit for her wedding gown...nobody knew it wasnt a wedding dress...looked great! ........but I think designers know peopel do this so actually finding a BM dress that comes in white can be a challenge ......good luck!

I got my dress there and I loved it. Everything was fine, I even had the alterations done there as well. I went to the one here in Charlotte though. All of my girls got their dresses there as well. I was satisfied with the service.

I ordered my dress from the westbury store, and have no problems yet. I just found out that it came in, so have to still pick it up.
Although, I have heard many negative experiences with alterations - can anyone tell me where they found more reliable alterations, at reasonable prices??

I ordered my dress during their major wedidng gown sale and paid less than $500 for my dress as well. They told me to expect 3-4 months and it came in a 3-4 weeks after I ordered it. I purchased a white bag through David's to put the dress in and store it in and I took the dress out and inspected it from top to bottom, front to back and there were no problems. I won't go there for alterations and there are cheaper places to go!

I highly recommend them to at leats go and see what style dresses they have. You may not find your dream dress among their throusands of dresses, but at least it will give you a good idea of what you will want/don't want in a dress. I just happened to find my dream dress as the first one I put on, and I couldn't put it back!

i got my dress at David's in Maryland. It was a great deal and delivered within weeks, not several months as they expected. after hearing negative reviews about thier alteration dept., i found a seamstress to do mine.

I bought my dress from them and got alterations elsewhere. My consultant Alcira from the LIC store off of Northern Blvd was the greatest ever. She even helped me exchange my dress for a smaller size after I lost 25 pounds!! The rest of the staff though had a pretty bad attitude. I found the same to be true in the westbury location. If you don't live too far from LIC and you want to go to David's..I would only deal with Alcira G!!

Re: Has anyone used Davids Bridal

I just picked my gown up from the westbury store on friday.
Overall, the experience was fine. I made an appt for as soon as the store opened in the morning so it was pretty empty.
I have a few points to make about Davids.....
1-they will try to give you the sample dress off the rack, I was advised that is their policy. Since they werent giving me a discount, I told them I wanted the dress to be ordered and in brand new condition. When you are trying on dresses, you will notice that you sweat from taking them on and off, unless you need the dress that day, have them order it for you, it came in within 3 weeks.
2-If you plan on paying by check, they dont accept a check # that is under i believe check # 50. My mom tried to pay with a check, but we had to pay with my amex since they wouldnt honor her check since it was a low #.
3-I have found a lot better deals on alterations than what was offered to me by Davids, so check around on the alterations.
4-My cousin got her dress there and had absolutely no problems, wasnt offered a sample dress and got everything including alterations, I guess it may depend on who helps you.

Good Luck

I think the bridesmaids dress in white is a great idea... for example, Watters has a lot of dresses that come in white, I believe, and they're pretty reasonably priced, and really nice and good quality.

You're better off doing that from a good reputable shop than going to David's, honestly. I did one dress shopping half hour there, and that was enough for me. I got out as fast as I could.
