Hate to be petty...
Alright, here's the deal.
There's a large group of us that have been friends for more than 15 years. One of the guys within the groups wife is pregnant. When his best friends (girl/guy in group) got married, his wife never went to either the bridal or the baby shower. When she was invited to my bridal shower, she never attended. Again, when invited to my baby shower she never even RSVP'd. Best friend indicated that she 'didn't believe' in showers and never attended any of them or gave gifts. I can respect that to a degree but not even to call and RSVP? That's just rude. Anyhoo, now she's pregnant and guess what I got in the mail?? An invite to her shower. She knows about it because she mentioned it in passing at a recent GTG (she was registering and giving her mother info, rest of us just nodded politely). Thankfully I have a few legitimate excuses not to be there (final exam for my Real Estate class and another shower on same day) but I don't know what to give as an appropriate gift. We got nothing in terms of shower gifts from them when we got married or even when we had the baby. We gave them the equivalent of what they gave us when they got married because they had a destination wedding and no shower. I don't want to seem like sour grapes but I don't want to go overboard considering her lack of thoughtfulness in the past to myself and other friends within the group. IMO, it seems a little hypocritical that she would dismiss everyone else's occasions and now when she's pregnant, she wants everyone to be there for her. AT LEAST I RSVP'd
Any thoughts??
