If I am with someone, I am ok, but if I have to fly alone, I get nervous and I don't know why.
I have to fly from LA to NY tomorrow alone and I am dreading it.

I'm not a very good flyer either. I try and stick with JetBlue, the TVs help drone things out and make the time pass quicker.
You'll get through it okay.

I totally hate to fly. What I try to do is stay up for a very long time cleaning the house...then I am too tired that I just fall right asleep. Sleeping passes the time so much more quickly. Have fun on your trip.

I agree. I hate flying and do the exact same thing. I have never flown alone and don't think I even could. I once had to fly on a flight that didn't give assigned seating - it was first come first served. We ended up being I think the third group on the line to get on the plane, but we got pulled for another security check. I thought we were going to be the last on the plane and started freaking thinking that I was not going to be able to sit next to someone in my family! It ended up that we were the first to be let onto the plane, thank goodness!
Try the staying up thing. It really works!

Re: Hate to fly??
My best advice - bring a really good book and an ipod or cd player or whatever. If you're going to be flying a lot, a portable DVD player is a great investment, or if you have a laptop that plays DVDs. I find that as long as I keep myself occupied I'm fine, but if I have nothing to do I get anxious. If you have a great book that you can get absorbed in it, start reading as soon as you get to your seat and drown out everything else around you. Have a safe flight and a great time in NY.

I hate to fly. My dr. prescribed me Ambiem when FH and I went to Hawaii in November. Was NOT looking forward to that flight.
Maybe for the future you can ssk your dr. something. Being asleep really made it easier for me.

I get really nervous during take off and landing, and God forbid there's turbulence! But otherwise I'm ok! I flew alone from NY to FA when I was 19, and I was totally ok! I slept almost the whole time. Infact, the passenger next to me and the flight attendants had to wake me up when we landed, I was so out of it I didn't wake up!

I'm not a good flyer either. I really hate it. And unfortunately, FH is no help. He flew for the first time when we went to Colorado this summer. He was so nervous and nearly broke my hand. He survived it and even said he will do it again, but it certainly will never be something we enjoy.
Bring some good magazines and with a long flight they should definitely have a movie...that helps me.
You will be okay! Enjoy your trip.

Re: Hate to fly??
Let me tell you about my good friend Xanax. Seriously though, it helps like you would not believe. I can't even get on a flight without it anymore. Talk to your doctor. I don't take Xanax ANY other time than when I fly, so it's not like I'm addicted to it... it's just the only thing that works for me.

I HATE to Fly!!!!!!! I'm petrified!!! FH and I can't wait for our HM but between both of us being scared I think we both need something to make us sleep.
I'm really not looking forward to the flying. But, that's the only way to get to our destination.

I absolutely hate flying. I get panic atacks and wind up getting to know my stewardesses very well. On my last flight I took valium which didnt help. Coming back to NY I stopped at the bar in the airport and had a few shots, that did help. When I go on my honeymoon, its ambien for me.

I took a valium on a flight from Miami to Ny during a panic attack, (I lost my zanax) it made me hysterical, I'm still embrassed

Re: Hate to fly??
Thanks for the advice ladies, I don't have any valium or Xanex, so I guess it is Tylenol PM for me.
