Hauppague Houses? RT 347?

Driving the Northern State to the end... and then driving on the road it turns into... not sure what road that is. I think its RT 347... I pass by some nice apartment and housing complexes.

Anything nice down there? Are they co-ops? Condos? Houses? It looks like a really nice area. What are the prices going for around there?

Probably out of my range... but I can dream... can I?

Oh and to get an idea on where I am talking about... I believe I passed a place that said 'Watermill'... the catering hall I assume.

we looked alittle in Hauppauge and its pricy! You may find a few houses in the under 400K range but they are generally in need of a lot of help!
When you get off of NS you are on 454 then as you continue east the road forks, if you go to the left you are on 347, when you get to Watermill you are actually on the border of like Smithtown, Nesconset, Hauppauge area. There is an apt/townhouse complex on Terry Road that is very pricy!

my friend recently bought a brand new house right in that area for 500K

I figured they would be pricey. I love the area though. I love living right by a major highway so it makes commuting by car easy... but not too close where its a distraction. Those little communities look real nice.

Oh well... I can always dream I suppose. Maybe if my FW gets promoted at her job or moves up it can be a possibility in the future.

I live in Islandia which is a little south of Hauppauge but literally right next door. We bought a house here last July for 287,500 and it is nice, 4BD 2 Ba 2200 sq feet. The houses here are cheaper because it's in Central Islip school district but we thought by the time we have kids in school and we have to worry about it it will be 7 years from now. Check it out.

there are co-ops right off of 347 that arent' too expensive - we looked over there....tanglewood is the name of the development...they're off of rt 111 which intersects with 347, right bfore the watermill.
they were very rooms....i think it was about 159,000 for the 2 bedroom we looked at - vaulted ceilings, fireplace, lots of closets....it ws very nice!!
the seller's real estate agent screwed with us though and we walked away.....
the maintenance was a little high though

Did they have any 3brs there? What were they going for?

I always said I would never buy a 3br co-op... but I guess for shyts and giggles it doesn't hurt to ask. :D

There's a nice community Right Across the street from Watermill, called Avalon. Those are rentals as far as I know (my ex-boyrfriend rented a ONE BEDROOM there in 1997 for $1,600 a month).

avalon is really nice (located on Terry Rd behind CVS)
Rentals are 1800+++++ I have 2 friends who live there, one in a 2 bdr 2bth and they are paying about $1950 Another in a 1 bdr 1bth with a loft around $1900.
So its NOT cheap! And I heard that there is a waiting list!
THey also have townhouses for sale DH and I looked briefly there and it was about 450K

I heard a week ago from a realtor that there was a waiting list until recently, now Avalon is getting agents involved to find renters.

It's a beautiful community.

Well Avalon is obviously out of the question cause they are rentals. I guess I would be looking for a townhouse/condo. I am going to avoid the co-ops in Long Island cause I think they are overpriced compared to Queens and not as financially secure.

So if I was doing a search online... or if asked by a realtor... what towns are this area a part of so I can search? Nesconsent? Hauppague?

nesconset, smithtown, can't think of any others......
