We just purchased a split level house, so the living room, dining room and kitchen all flow together. We took down the wall inbetween the kitchen and dining room so we have an eat in kitchen now. The problem is what color should I paint it? I wanted to paint the kitchen a goldish color with maybe some texture but i dont think it will look right on the whole first floor. Any suggestions. Here are before pictures of it (when the seller was still living there). When looking at the last picture the wall to the left is what came down
my mom has an L shaped LR/DR like that (not split leavel though)
she actually put a one foot 'wall' to separate the LR and DR - by the ceiling - and it does break up the rooms...on DR side there is a shelf on the 'wall' to display DR things...
i do think she has both rooms the same color though...

Re: Have a question about painting rooms
We have a split and painted the LR & DR different colors. We have a thin moulding up that runs down the section where the colors change. It looks great. They have some awesome decorative mouldings at HD. I got one with vine leaves and painted the leaves the same green color as my LR walls and then stained the rest to match the furniture.

I just used clolrs that flowed into one another. I didnt use mouldings. Just use colors that will compliment one another

Re: Have a question about painting rooms
Can you post pics of what the room looks like now...so we can get a better understanding of the room.
Danielle's parents house is all different colors in each room...kitchen(light green) Dining room (Peachy color), den (Beige)...They seperated the colors by painting white in each room....In the divider.....They have an arch between the den and the kitchen, the Kitchen and the dining room and the top of that is painted white. I hope that explains it...

Re: Have a question about painting rooms
Wow Thats going to be one nice big living space! How about doing the kitchen area and the back wall of your new dining area (the windowed wall in the last pic) in a texture and with the rest of the walls in the base color of the textured wall.
