I am officially an aunt to a beautiful little girl! my FH's sister (a bridesmaid in my wedding) gave birth this morning at LIJ/Mannhaset. Does anyone know when i can visit? on the website it says 10-7 for grandparents and siblings and 7- for others. when they say siblings do they mean siblings to the baby? or the parent?

Re: Have a question about visiting hours
They mean siblings to the baby. I know certain hospitals also have set hours for immediate family to the new mom. Call and ask! Say you are her SIL already You deserve to be there asap!
Congrats!!

I wouldn't even say in-law. I'd say sister. Sometimes they say JUST immediate family.

Re: Have a question about visiting hours
It was the same at my hospital, but my sister had no problem coming in with my parents - they never even asked her...I'd just go and if asked, you say you are her sister. And congrats!

Re: Have a question about visiting hours
I just went to see Cindy at LIJ yesterday and it was very different than when I gave birth to Luke at Winthrop. At Winthrop, they let my Mom stay all day and during general visiting hours, which were short, my niece and nephew who are both 2 came to visit and I had about 12 people in the room at the time. At LIJ (the one on Lakeville Road) their website says general visiting was 7-8, so I went at 7pm with Lukie. When I got there, they were very strict as to having only 4 people (including the father) in the room at a time, they had a nurse standing guard at the door to the maternity ward. However, the sign on the door said general visiting hours are 1-8 so I could have gone anytime. But children under 12 were not allowed in (unless a sibling of the baby) so another friend stayed outside with Luke so I could run in. I dont know if it's the same at the Manhasset location but the website info was not right.

ETA: I made that into a long story but what I'm trying to say is if it's the same there, you could probably go at any time.
