Have a question re: Save-the-Date Magnets...

Are the save-the-dates supposed to be represenattivr of your wedding, like the invites? i am getting married at Oheka and I haven't told anyone in the family yet. i want it to be a surprise. So I guess what I am asking is should I do something with a castle on it or just something black tie elegant? I don't want this to be a cinderella theme. I am too old for that unfortunately. Most of the save-the -dates I have seen really don't cut it on the elegant side. What should I do? Any suggestions.

Do you want to let the cat out of the bag now? Or when they get the formal invitation? Personally my STD's will carry the autumn theme of my wedding. I think something elegant can be very simple in design with fancy script writing....

We put out STD's in a card that just had 2 interlocked hearts and the words 'Save the Date '.
Then inside we had a magnet with a picture of us, no theme on that. But our invitations have 2 interlocking hearts so that was really the only theme going on. We made them ourselves too so it's not easy to match them to invitations which we aren't making.

I don't think you have to have a theme. You could just make them really sophisticated and elegant. That would go with a wedding at Oheka!

My save the date magnet looks nothing like the invitations (didn't pick them out yet) and I don't really have a theme. It says Our Names, Save the Date, the Date, there is a picture of us, and a mini calender with a heart around the date.

Godilocks - how did you make them?

We bought all the supplies at Staples: business card-sized magnets come in a pack, business card laser jet paper, and the stationary. A friend scanned a picture into the computer and we wrote the text around the picture. The magnet is held the long way so on top it said 'This day I will marry my best friend' and then our picture is in the middle. Under our picture is just has our names and wedding date.
It's kind of like doing labels for envelopes and you size the picture and everything for a business card set-up. Then you print them out on the sheets which are perforated so you tear them off. The magnets are self-adhesive so you peel and stick! So easy!!

And I used PrintMaster for the note cards. I wish I could show you. They came out great!

Approximately how much per magnet would you say you spent? i am trying to figure something out.

I made cards and magnets...and I spent about $50 total (not including postage).
