I say go in with low expectations so as to not be dissapointed. When you find what you love, then you'll be blown away. have patience and good luck!!!!!

Thanks Girls!

Its hard not to have high expectations with the prices nowadays. I mean who wants to spend half a million dollars on a house and then another small fortune to fix it up - windows, roof, siding, not to mention the interior etc... But we are eing relaistic

Tomorrow we are looking at 2, one in Seaford and one in Merrick

Be very direct about which specifics you like for the houses, so that the realtor doesn't show you what you don't want. (for example, if you think a house must have a basement, and if it doesn't, you shouldn't be seeing)

Also, ask a lot of question when you're there, and look in every corner.

We have been looking since Sept/Oct. Pay attention to what you like and don't like. Every trip was a learning experience for me. Don't settle on your house or your broker. We're on our 3rd (broker). She's amazing - our only complaint is that she's not aggressive with the negotiating - but we stand firm on what we need to close the deal and she's getting there!

GOOD LUCK!
