Have any of you...

Felt like you have to constantly justify why you are choosing something for your own wedding? Sometimes I feel like nothing I choose or like is good enough for some people. I'm constantly being told you should go here or check this place, but I never asked for any advice or opinions. I know what I want and I know where to get it and if I don't I'll just ask you girls on the forum.

Sorry, I just had to vent.

YES! after a while I stopped telling my friends and family and just told LIW girls.

fortunately my family is really supoortive and my plans so far... hope it stays that way, but i could see how it could be extremely frustrating if it wasnt like this

unfortunately people putting in their two cents will never change. I just said 'thanks for your advice' and then did what I wanted.

I've had people make suggestions, but I don't think anyone is really pushing. The only thing that got pushed on FH and I so far was to have a band instead of a dj. We gave in to that one being that it was my father and both of his parents that kept saying it. I compromised and said that if we got a band, it had to be a recommended house vendor so that I wouldn't have to pay for them to eat. That's when we found Code Bleu and couldn't be happier.

But overall, my friends and family know that I'm planning my wedding the way I want to, not the way they want it. They all know that they can give suggestions, but no one will talk me into doing something I don't want to.

I've been trying my best to do this but I'm so damn hard headed that I just want to yell. Sometimes I love planning my wedding and other times I just want it all to be over with. Well all I have to do is keep smiling and nodding my head.

when it came to RH's yes, that is why i visited about 15 of them, it seemed like a neverending process. After the RH, I stopped taking other people's suggestions

YES. FMIL. Enough already!! I KNOW you think the wedding is a waste of money, BUT I'm marrying my best friend, and we want to have an AWESOME INSANE PARTY. I'm sorry if that bothers you! Get over it! Oh, and then she will take the credit for the wedding.

Absolutely. It's frustrating. I won't say who does it in case I have lurkers but it's someone who is close to me and constantly feels the need to push her thoughts on me. (Not someone on here- but someone in the family)

Honestly the best thing to do is smile at them say thanx and DO WHAT YOU WANT ANYWAY! Do you know how many suggestions I get? TACKY A55 SUGGESTIONS?

Ive been told that I just HAVE to tell my girls how to do their hair! I HAVE TO tell my girls what shoes to buy! I HAVE TO tell them what jewelry to wear! I HAVE TO make them use my makeup artist the day of! I ALSO HAVE TO do wine bottles as favors because well EVERYONE IS DOING THAT NOW!
Let me show you how my conversation goes with my this 1 girl I know:

Her: Have you picked favors yet?
Me: Yes actually I have.
Her: OO ok you should do wine bottles!
Me: No its ok I already know what I Want to do.
Her: O OK... BUT YOU SHOULD DO WINE BOTTLES WITH A PERSONALIZED LABEL, EVERYONE IS DOING IT...
Me: OO ok THANX But like I said I have something in mind.
Her: Yea but you should DO WINE BOTTLES! EVERYONE IS DOING IT NOW! YOU SHOULD TOO!
Me: Ok thanx for the idea!

IM STILL DOING WHAT I WANT!!!!!! Ummmm HELLO IM SPEAKING, CAN YOU HEAR ME?! I DONT WANNA DO WINE BOTTLES

PS: NO OFFENSE TO THE LADIES DOING WINE BOTTLES just NOT WHAT I WANTED TO DO! =))))

Absolutely have some of that going on by one or two people. But overall, they are just trying to be helpful and supportive. I know that its coming from a great place and I had no real set vision, so ideas were flying. The good thing...as we listened and saw, FH and I realized that we did or did not want certain things.

Luckily enough, I haven't experienced this issue...YET.

My parents are very supportive of my decisions, and I am not telling FIL's much of anything at all (more specifically FMIL). FFIL I haven't had the chance to see/talk to in awhile so who knows if he will have any 'issues'...most likely not!

As for friends and colleagues, they are all pretty cool.

Just hang in there and go with what you want for your day!

o yessssssssssssssssssssss- i want a cupcake tower and my dad thinks its tacky and we should have a cake- i want to be bare foot for the ceremony and mom says that i just cant do that-

Whenever someone tries to tell me what to do, I tell them that my FH really hates that, so we probably won't, but thanks for the suggestion. It's easier for me to blame things on him than try to be nice. He does the same thing with me and his family.

I'm having the MOST problems with the guest list - like WHY the H E L L does my dad feel the need to invite his college buddies that moved to FL and SC in 1987 and whom he hasn't seen since? It makes me SOOOO mad - this isn't about inviting all your friends so you can have an 'all about me' party - I want people there who mean something to me a FH!
