have any of you attempted votive placecards?

I have the directions of how to do them but it seems like it's a huge pain in the @ss. I really love the look but am wondering if it's worth it

Hi darling! I love the look too but I am anti votive....when you move in from CH you always have a drink in hand and its hard to carry fire, cocktails and a clutch!

So unless you force the men to carry them I vote no!

I was going to, but it was a HUGE PITA. So I just did our names and date on the votives and used them around the centerpieces..which was still a PITA, but not as bad.

I made them. They were a total PITA but soooo worth it. The candles looked beautiful around the tables and the room looked amazing. I also got a lot of compliments. If you have the time and patience, I say go for it

I made them and it was totally worth it, they then became part of the centerpiece once everyone took them to the table, but I cheated a little. To make it easier I just got clear address lables and had staples print them up, then I just put them on the candles and added a little flower. I will try to post a pic! Good Luck!

Thanks so much girls!

My sister (best maid of honor EVER) offered to make these for me. If she's willing to put in the time and effort I'm all for it.

I figure that if the guests don't want to bother with bringing them to the table for the reception they totally don't have to. I've noticed that about a 1/4 of all placecards don't even get picked up (or rather left) at weddings I've gone to! At least the table with all the candles will make a pretty entrance

I considered doing this and I thought of guests carrying them around the CH, etc. But maybe instead of having them placed as the guests enter the RH, they can be picked up after the CH and right before they enter the main room instead so they don't have to be carrying around lit candles forever. I hope this makes sense. I love the idea of votive placecards!

It was a pain but it took 2 days and FH helped. You need good scissors, paper cutter and lots of patience. I purchased the votives at AC Moore.

FIRST check that your RH will allow them. Mine told me I could do it and then the week before told me that it was a fire hazzard. I won the battle but it is now in their contracts that you can't have them.

It really is a fire hazzard.

With that said. They looked beautiful, but for the time I put into them half of them were left on the tables at the end of the night. The votives that are on the stem come with a kit to print them. I didn't use those votives and ended up having to make my own template.

Seriously after all the planning that is what I spent the most time on (I am talking DAYS).

Not something I would do again -- I would have a pretty escort card printed up.
