That they feel that you are 'bowing down' to your FH and doing mainly what he wants. But you don't and the only reason that certain people think this is because there is someone else in your life now whose opinion you value just a little more then theirs?
Esp when it comes to wedding stuff since this is your wedding.. not theirs.?

Re: have u ever been told this?
FH is from Long Island and I am from Westchester. We looked at places in both Long Island and Westchester and decided on a place in Long Island (Port Washington) I was told that I was bowing down to my side of the family by FH's mom just bc I wanted to make sure the date and time I picked would be convenient for most of my side. I thought it was pretty ridiculous because if I had the wedding in Westchester I would have tried to show the same courtesies to FH's side. Basically when people say that I think they are just frustrated that they don't have more control of the planning process.

Re: have u ever been told this?
my mom was first upset we were looking at LI, since its not convenient for my family (which is small) and my moms friends.
unfortunately, we cant get any value for our $ at the good places in brooklyn/manhattan
I haven't run into this but there are always gonna be those people who have to put their 2 cents in...

i woudlnt necessarily word it that way but yea i get that. my friends dont really like FH so they arent that crazy about the wedding i guess. they have told me that they think the 'compromises' me and him come to are ridiculous...which quite frankly is none of their business!

Re: have u ever been told this?
i'm sure people think it but no one told me this....i think some people might have thought this when we moved to CT b/c I moved for him, his job was up here....but now we have been here for 18months and I am really starting to get used to it.

Re: have u ever been told this?
people used to say things like that to me all through high school. (i started dating FH when i was a sophomore) i will admit that i used to rather spend time with him over them, but i knew from then that we would get married someday. of course i would do things with my friends for birthdays & other social events but after school i would rather go home & talk to FH on the phone.
a lot of those people have nothing to do with me anymore & that is fine, i do have some very good friends left from high school & those were the ones who understood what i was doing. i think that any relationship needs strong ground work before it will work out.

No one's ever said this, but I sometimes think the thought is about FH bowing down to me...he's just more laid back than me...if there is something that really bothers him he tells me...
Jackie I can't believe your friends don't like John...I know we haven't met in person yet...but he seems like a awesome guy and you guys make a great couple!!

Re: have u ever been told this?
Hear this all the time from my brothers. It gets very annoying. They are used to being the only men in my life. Just want to kick them sometimes. I just tell them to ef off and go on about my business. They should know I'm too darn strong of a woman to bow down to anyone, I am just in a relationship where there is give and take and equality.

Re: have u ever been told this?
I havent been told I bow down to Colleen, but have had friends say that I hang out in Long Island to much, never where I live and it seems like she's taking me away from them and all that stuff... People dont realize she is my fiance not just a girlfriend, plus the fact that I'd rather not hang out where I live LoL
