I'm going through this right now, and yesterday was absolutely the WORST! I've never felt such a bad cough/sore throat/stuffy nose. My nose was so bad that it felt like I had closed each nostril, sounded very nasal when I spoke, and I couldn't taste ANYTHING all night.
I'm probably just being a baby (which I've never been), or are pregger's symptoms worse because of the hormones, and lack of meds?
Any tips?

I did when I was pregnant. Try to drink lots of liquids, soups,etc and get rest. Feel better.

Its awful having any illness when pregnant cause you cant do much about it. Call your OB you may be able to take some Sudafed to clear up your congestion, even for a little while.

I'm really sick right now, my kids have been running 104 fevers and we were up all night. I am all stuffed up, my throat is raw and my head feels like it will burst. On top of that I have the pregnancy symptoms, nausea, back ache, my hip is out and I broke my tailbone while delivering my last daughter and I think it's becoming dislodged again Ok, I feel better, i complained for the day!!!
Go run the shower and sit in the steam! And drink TONS of OJ, (Sunny Delight is even better, lots of vitamins and sugar in it!!)

Get saline nasal drops for your nose. They are harmless bacuse they have no medications in them but they really do work.

Call the Dr .. you actually cn take Zithromax when you ar epregnant.. i took it I had a cold the first 5 months of my pregnancy.. also you can take tylonel... but i would still call the dr.. feel better

I just had a cold while on vacation. It sucked! I had a sore throat too. My mom swears by gargling with warm salt water to help a sore throat, I never could do it but I was desperate. So I did it three times for 2 days and the sore throat was gone. Still had some congestion but I took riccolas and drank a lot of OJ. Feel better soon!

Thanks ladies, for the response. I'm actually feeling a lot better, but this stuffy nose is ANNOYING! I can't even taste the food I eat!
I saw my OB yesterday, and she gave me a prescription for Zithromax... the sore throat is gone, but I still have a cough... though nothing comes out... pretty weird.
I hope to be up & running soon.

I had a horrible cold when I found out I was PG and after I m/c also....its the 'trauma' of the body...your body now has something in it that it's not used to.....
chicken soup, lots of OJ, lots of water, lots of protein and lots of rest!!! took me 2 weeks to get over though!

Yup I did its not fun, but it did finally go away. I didn't take any meds.
Though when you are pregnant you are prone to be nasal because your hormones create extra mucous, so that can lead to stuffed noses, sore throats, etc.
Even when I wasn't 'sick' I thought the stuffiness would never go away, magically the day after I gave birth, it did!
I have a cold now I am 16 weeks preg . I went to the doc today. He said I could take Claritin D for the congestion, plain Robitussin for the cough, and losenges (sp) for the sore throat. I have a vaporizer in my room and I often cozy up to the bottle of vicks on my chest and under my nose. I am half way on the mend. GOOD LUCK
