the jewler to custom made my ring sent it to the gemologist before we picked it up. It came with the cert and the apprisal to bring to the insurance co :) Im not sure where to go to get it done but im sure any cert. gemologist can :)

Thanks for the help, i'm so clueless when it comes to this stuff..I guess I'll google certified gemologist and see what comes up
yes i did my uncle made it and gave me the papers so i could insure it

What happens when you get your ring appraised? Do you just walk in and ask, or do you have to make an appointment? How long does it take for them to figure out the value of your ring and how much do you pay?
My FH got it appraised at Gemological Appraisal Laboratory of America, Inc its in the city at

Fh and I went last week for a re-appraisal...
I recommend the Jewlery Judge in Garden City, right off of Washington Ave and Old Country Road...
He was great!

You have to make an appt and it takes about 45 mins...he does it right in front of you and will tell you step by step what he is doing.
The cost is based on the total carat weight of your Ering

Mine is appraised, but not insured...I need to do that.
I remember awhile ago saying that you can get it done at Christian Bernards in the mall for $25.

Yes, I went and got it done a week after he proposed. I was freaking out about losing it! We added it to my rental insurance.
