Have you ever had shoes made?

Is that possible? I bought a pair of red shoes once in Italy and searching all over for a similar black pair, but can't seem to find it... Anyone tried having shoes made?

I've had boots made, but unfortunately, they only sell to retailers now.

I had bookmarked a website for a business in NYC that did custom shoes, but I just deleted it. I believe the place in NYC wants $1000 just for the shoe mold. A friend of mine gets all hers made in Hong Kong, so I figured I was better off waiting until our next HK trip.
