The Groom walking down the aisle by HIS MOTHER????
I have heard in Jewish ceromony this happening but we are catholic, i think it is really weird and freaks me out.
His mother feels really stronly about walking him down b/c she does not have a husband.
I told her that the groom does not walk down his walks in with the groomsmen and pries through side door.
She wants to walk down with him and have the groomsmen follow her.
I DOOOOO NOT WANT THIS. HELP
You may not like me for saying this, but I think it's really sweet. Does he have any brothers or sisters? If not, this is the most logical thing. She doesn't have a husband and wants the honor of giving her son away....I think that is sweet! Of course I'd want them to be the first ones down the aisle, so he is set in his spot for you to come down. Think it over, I don't think it's all that bad!

Re: Have you EVER heard of......
I'm Jewish and am walking down with both of my parents. FH isn't Jewish, and I'm leaving it up to him whether he walks with his parents.
What does your FH want to do? I personally think it's sweet, but I'm biased of course because to me that is 'normal'

I just have never seen it done before, i feel she is doing this for attention, like always.
I dont know i just find it weird, i feel FH should only walk down with his wife.
I need all the opinions out there, HELP

I think you should rephrase that to say 'I want opinions from anyone who agrees with me'
I highly doubt she's doing it for attention

That was a little harsh, you have no idea what i have been dealing with with her. I just wanted to hear what other brides think.

I've never seen the groom walk down at all honestly. Usually they are just magically there already.

Re: Have you EVER heard of......
In the Italian custom the groom walks down with his mother. Many Italian Americans follow this custom. DH is more 'Americanized' so we did not do it.
Think of it this way, to YOU it will seem like he was up there the whole time. Once you walk in - he will be at the altar already waiting for you to walk in.
I think it is sweet

Re: Have you EVER heard of......
My FH is being walked down the aisle by both of his parents and so am I. We feel that both of our parents raised us and both should have the honor of walking us down the aisle.
When it comes to the procession, just like everything else with planning a wedding, I don't think there is a 'normal'. I think it's more a matter of preferences or family traditions.
