Have you had or gone to a Jack and Jill?

I'm not entirely in love with the idea of having a bridal shower. (I love coed events) Have you had or gone to a jack and jill? your thoughts...

my moh's shower was coed, but we ended up throwing her an all-girl shower too- she really wanted some time with the girls to talk about wedding stuff- the coed shower wasn't the same, she said

I had a Jack and Jill and it was the best idea ever! i did not want an ordinary shower and have to open gifts in front of people, so we had a jack and jill and it was soooo much fun. We got it catered and everybody just drank and played bocce ball, etc... DH and I opened our gifts together and whoever wanted to watch could... It was so casual and so much fun. A day I was dreading actually turned out really nice

I've been to one and I loved it! Everyone had a great time! There weren't too many of the typical bridal shower games, which I didn't mind at all. It was nice to see everyone celebrating together, the bride and groom opening all their gifts together etc. Since its about the bride AND the groom, I thought it was a great idea.

I went to one & loved it. I'm not a fan of showers so I wanted a Jack & Jill too but once we started figuring out the guestlist we realized it would've been too many people !! So now I'm having an all girl shower....as long as there's alcohol it'll be all good lol

mine was a jack & jill and i loved it! i wasnt the typical bride who likes the bridal shower games. i told my BP that i wanted NO games at my shower, just a luncheon for everyone to sit and enjoy. so DH and my BP surprised me with EVERYONE being there! i loved it...I especially loved that DH was there with me to open all of the presents!

I went to a co-ed baby shower recently. There were more women than men there, it being a baby shower, but it was fun. I brought my FH, and it was a lot like a regular party, lots of food, guys talking about sports in one room, women talking about babies in another. It was a nice, low-key event. No games, alhtough I did end up winning a door prize. Not only did I bring a gift, I got to go home with one. It was a fun day.

However, I know my bridal shower is girls-only.

My Brother and Sister-in-Law had a Jack & Jill Shower, it was Awesome.
Everybody had a blast, They wanted it ti be one last major Party before they got married....

I think it's a great idea - I have toyed with the idea of one - but I dont think my FH will go for one!

I would love to have a coed jack and jill but I think my mom would want me to have a traditional bridal shower so she can torture me with that ridiculous ribbon hat and the old ladies talking about things i don't particularly want to hear old ladies talk about lol...

I may have a jack and jill anyway afterwards... kind of a laid-back get together, maybe a backyard BBQ or something like that... so that FH & I get to hang out with our friends altogether... and I love an excuse to have a get together lol... Guests wouldn't have to bring gifts since we would've already got them at the bridal shower (makes sense right?)... maybe we would have everyone bring something to eat/drink instead???

Don't know yet...

What do you ladies think? Any ideas?

Yes, we had a Jack and Jill coed shower, it was wonderful, fun and not a girly girl shower at all.. We did not have an engagement party at all, so I felt better about this, we were a big part of the shower, actually we paid for 1/2 of it. It was more of a dinner party, we had it in the glass atrium at Villa Lombardis, a hidden secret on long island, Im not a fan of Villa lombardis at all, but when I seen a picture of this room on the internet, I was blown away, it was so modern all white, not ivory, PS I hate ivory or cream.... The guest were blown away by the place, actually most said it was better then most of the weddings they have gone too, we had about 60 people, 3/4 of the room was all glass, it had snowed out the night before so our party started at around 5 and ended at 9, the view of the gardens with the lights in the gazebo and ground were all amazing. Nothing was old fashioned at all, which is why I chose that room. We opened up all of our beautiful gifts in front of everyone that we got for the shower and we had a keyboard player/sings there who also did a little dj work. We didnt want a dance floor and everything was stark white, crisp, clean and modern looking, food was out of this world and the price was great...... beleive it or not, the prices were lower then having it at a nice restaurant. Would recommend to anyone, place a++++, food A++++
most of all we all enjoyed it and all the guys were like wow, see what we have been missing all of these years....they all had a blast...

obviously u know this us my preference but zack will have no part in it (anything to avoid all his aunts and cousins...lol) anyways. i would rather go to a jack and jill but thats just me.

I had one for my mother who got remarried. My step-father was never married before so we made it towards him. He loves baseball, so we made it baseball theme...Everyone had to wear jerseys and hats. We had a backyard shower, no 4 hour time limit, and if people wanted to watch open gifts, they did...If not they just kept partying. It was a good time... I am actually hoping for one...Will see what happens.
