Is it just me or have you heard that 20% of the guests you invite end up NOT coming. I have gone through my list and I just can't see 20% of my invites not coming. Have any past brides gone through this? I don't want to have a B list because everyone I would want to invite is on my A list. What do you think? Thanks

Re: HAVE YOU HEARD?
20% is about average.
Of course you want everyone you invite to come to your wedding but the reality is that they may not be able to due to conflicting schedules, expensive travel arrangements, work, emergencies, etc.

Re: HAVE YOU HEARD?
We have a lot of out of towners and our wedding is on a holiday weekend. I am thinking we may see as many as 40% not be able to make it! I am actually a little concerned about not meeting our minimum of 150. Right now I have about 220 on the list.

Re: HAVE YOU HEARD?
I've heard of this & I hope it's ONLY 20% (a number of people have told me 30% - yikes!) I need to make the 200 person min. & I only have 20 on my list with about 30 from OOT ...so who knows!
Supposidly this is made up of folks who can't go b/c one reason or another and people who just for whatever reason RSVP & don't show up! Sometimes you even get people who didn't RSVP & show too!

Re: HAVE YOU HEARD?
I thought it was 10-15%. I am only inviting 95 to start with, so I can't imagine 19 saying no, since they are mostly close family. A few of my frinds that don't live around here might say no. Or the two that live in the same town as the church but never go to anything But I'm kinda hoping FMILs friends don't come, so with a fe wof my no show friends, that could add up to 10-15 people ( oops, did say that )

Yes--my FH says to stop adding to the list, but I keep on telling him NOT everyone will be coming....I know a few OOT will not be coming...but I will be surprised if more than expected do come.

20% is an estimate but it is a true one. Not everyone you invite will attend because schedule conflicts, emergencies and so on.

Re: HAVE YOU HEARD?
Not true in my case, I'd say out of all the people I invited - 2 couples couldn't make it - and those were last minute emergencies.

Re: HAVE YOU HEARD?
It does sound wierd, but it certainly was true for us as well. Plus we had THIRTEEN, yes, that's right-- 13 no shows the day of. It ended up we invited 351 and in final, we had about 269 at our wedding.
Thank goodness the Milleridge has the 5% policy! Otherwise we would have paid for those 13 people!

Re: HAVE YOU HEARD?
you will be surprised we sent out invites this week and about two months ago we ALREADY knew 8 people who would not be able to come and most are family and really close friends
one couple's nephew is getting married the same day in CA, one of our friends is a best man in his friends wedding that weekend in PA you see? I think that the 15% ish might hold true
