Have you purchased your dress yet? If not, when do you plan on purchasing??
I haven't purchased my dress yet. I wanted to wait until it was almost a year until my wedding...but I feel like I can't wait that long!!! I'm thinking of going next month.
Did you get your dress yet? If you haven't, when do you plan on starting dress shopping??

I have been looking here and there to get an idea of what I want because I was clueless. I wound up finding my dress this weekend and felt it was too early to order so I put a small deposit on the dress and will order it in January. The deposit will hold the dress at the current price, I will get notified if the designer is going to discontinue it- But at the same time- they have to fulfill the order even if they are discontinuing it. If I go back and decide I don’t want that dress, I can move my deposit to another dress with no penalties.
Some dresses take longer to come in so don’t cut yourself short.
Finding the one takes a lot of people some time so start as soon as you can.

I know how you feel- its so exciting, you just want to go! But I am going to wait until the end of July 2010. My reasoning on waiting is that I want to lose some lbs. before I start trying things on so I really get a good idea of what works best for my body type, and also because new designs come out every year, and I know if I get something now, I will see something in a magazine next year & want that one! haha I have cut out/printed things I have seen in magazines & online that I liked in some way or another- whether I liked the whole thing, liked the cut, liked the way the beading/lace was. This way I have something to bring to the appointments when it is my time to show them things I like. Something tells me what I think I like is going to be different from what I really like!
Whether next month or later on- Good luck!

My list of dresses I want to try on is endless! And a lot of them are from the new collection that just came out so what I am doing right now is trying to track each dress down. I have gone to 2 places so far and found 1 dress that is in the running. If I happen to find THE dress in the near future my plan is to not place an order for it until I am a year out at least.

I haven't even thought about it yet. I have been going through magazines and pulling out dresses I like to start getting an idea of what I want. I feel like it's too early to start looking for me. I'll probably start looking sometime next summer. Who knows. I might get the bug and go sooner!

I'm getting married in Oct 2011 (don't have a set date yet) but i don't plan to look for my dress until 9-12 months before. I just don't know what i want yet; and i'd be too afriad that i would see something else i like better buying it so far in advance. PLUS i'd like to loose a few lbs before the wedding; and uless i buy a dres 2 sizes too small i'd hate to deal with taking it in and all those extra alterations on top of the standard ones...

I am insane...We got engaged Christmas Day '08 &..was out after New Year's '09 shopping & ordered my dress the last week in February..once I find something that's it..but that's just how I am. I wasn't going to take the chance of it being discontinued. People thought I was crazy but I really didn't care haha I didn't realize how picky was too..I just started hating them all & thinking of this one that I loved... & I haven't looked back since..PS it's almost 7 months later & it still hasn't come in...I 'm hoping it doesn't for a while so that it doesn't sit & rot for too long in storage haha..but I also have a nightmare of it coming in wrong..so I have plenty of time if it did.

I plan on starting to look right after Christmas..my mother and I happen to have the same week off this year.
I do want to go try on a dress I saw and can't stop thinking about. I finally tracked it down to RK Bridal and they just started their Sunday hours again.
I'm looking in December mainly because (not to offend anyone) I don't really care for most of the dresses out there.
I want plain, no train with some (not too much) work on the bodice.

You should check out Paloma Blanca dresses. A lot of their dresses are plain and have small trains, with little work on the bodice. I like simple dresses too and I love PB!

I definately want to lose some weight before I start trying things on because I know I won't be happy with the way any of the dresses fit until I do.
I also tend to change my mind about things, so I don't want to look too early or I will most likely decide that I want something else. I think I'll probably start looking a little over a year before the wedding. My friend is getting married in June of 2010 and she was told that the dress could take up to 9 months to come in after its been ordered, so I definately don't want to wait too long.

I got engaged in 12/6/08 and bought my dress 4/09 lol!! I couldn't wait to try on some dresses, and I went to a bunch of places and had no intention to buy. Then I was debating on this one dress I liked, but felt it was too early to buy it. Then I tried another one on and DID NOT WANT TO TAKE IT OFF!! So I bought it!! I plan on loosing weight before the wedding so I bought the dress that JUST FITS now, and they said they will have no probs taking it in a few sizes if needed, it's making it bigger that's hard!

I actually found my dress already!! I wasn't planning on looking this early but I'm only home in NY 2 to 3 times a year so in May when I was home my mom and I went to our first store just to start trying on things so I could get an idea of what i liked and would you know i found it! It was so beautiful, simple yet unique with lace and buttons all the way down to the train. We loved it and ordered it!!! I was told 8 mo to 11mo to come in so i'm kinda glad i did it early!!
If you wanna go just to look, you should! it's exciting!! who knows you might find something and put $ down to lock in a good price!
