Haven't spoken to Aunt in 3 years. Should I invite?
My family has not spoken to my Aunt and her children for 3 years. We had a falling out over something silly. When one of my other cousins got married this April she never responded to the shower or the wedding. My mother just told me that she invited her and her 2 daughters to my shower and only 1 daughter responded at the last minute with no. My Aunt never called (she is my mothers sister and my godmother!!!). What do I do? I say no on the wedding but my mother is not sure. I dont think she will respond at all so why bother sending her and invite! I am a little hurt about the shower because I was close to my cousins. They are younger than me and when my Aunt went threw some hard times me and my Mom where totally there for all of them. What do you guys think?

I would say yes. My FH invited family that he hasn't seen (or spoken to, really) since he was a kid. Our parents just kind of expect that, I guess... it's not about how close you are with the person, unfortunately.

I totally understand you being hurt, it's not fair to get ousted from her life for something you had no control over. ANd it's also wrong of her to not respond, but I would invite her anyway. If she doesn't show or doesn't respond, it's her loss and at least you know you were the bigger person and you made the attempt. If you had been close to the family once, you might regret never knowing if she/they may have come to celebrate your special day. It's only a stamp.

Very good points. Thank you all. Maybe I should just send them invites. But if they don't respond thats a no right? I should be the better person, you are right.

i would say invite them, and plan on them being a no.. they sound like they wouldnt respond but youll feel better knowing you were the better one

I have the exact same problem with my Aunt & Uncle - they haven't spoken to my mother in over 7 years (and that is the LEAST of it, they are really horrible people)
But, I invited them anyway. Better to be the better person than to stoop to that level. They may come, they may not but then at least you look like the adult.
Good luck I know how hard it is!

I say send them an invite. It's (usually) best to be the bigger person and set examples. If they don't respond or don't come, that's their loss...
