Re: having a cruise wedding?
i wanted to do this and looked into it. the only problem is 1. if things get delyaed for any reason at all, ie: they get into port late your 4 hrs wedding can turn into 30 mins long bc they are still leaving at their shceduled time. 2. you have to keep the party somewhat small and 3. u have to use their photographer, music, etc.

Re: having a cruise wedding?
I went to a sweet 16 cruise, and I have to say as someone who gets seasick, I wouldn't go to another event on a boat. Definitely something to think about!

Re: having a cruise wedding?
do you mean a real cruise? or just on a boat for the night? I thought you meant a real cruise. If you mean just for the night i had one for my graduation party out of freeport and it was amazing!

Re: having a cruise wedding?
we were on a crusie this past october and a couple were scheduled tyo get married on the beach in cozumel............except we hit a hurricane and couldnt go to cozumel so their private beach wedding was moved onto the boat - just something to think about if they planned on getting married at a port

Re: having a cruise wedding?
a cruise wedding sounds beautiful...on one of the wedding shows she got her own boat for the night...you would just have to make sure no one gets seasick

I was thinking about this myself does anyone know if any cruise lives let you have the wedding and reception on the boat before the ship sets sail?

Re: having a cruise wedding?
I am having my wedding in the port of new york on July 25, 2011 on the Carnival Miracle. We have about 50-60 peolpe taking the 8 day cruise. The cruise line allows you only 50 non-sailing guests that can attend the wedding and then disembark before the ship leaves. It is true that you have to use their photographer, videographer, dj, etc. but I'm sure they are great. If you want real flowers you have to use them and the cruise line doesn't let you take the real flowers off the boat. So I am opting to use Wedideas Natural Touch silk flowers. We'll see how things go as the date gets closer but so far we am soooo happy with our decision.
Anyone else doing or have done a Carnival Cruise Wedding in the Port of New York???

Re: having a cruise wedding?
My FH and I are total cruise people (just got back from one a few weeks ago)...but for us, we couldnt see spending all the money for a cruise wedding for a small amout of people. Our guest list is HUGE, and it just wouldnt be posible for us. Its pretty much a destination wedding, and again, for us it couldnt work. But, i'm totally jealous of anyone who can do this!!!!
On the cruise i just went on, we saw a bridal party (they were carring their dresses and suits) and it looks like a bit of a hassle. It appears that they got married on the first day of the cruise, and a few of the rooms were closed off for a 'private event'. I think if you call the cruise line, they can give you so much more info.
GOOD LUCK

Re: having a cruise wedding?
My mom has a friend that was married on a cruise that was ported in NY, they had their ceremony and reception on the boat at port, then some guests stayed on for the week long cruise, and some (people who don't like boats or maybe couldn't get enough time off of work) just went home after the reception.
When i talk to her tonight I'll ask what cruise line it was.
