Having booking RH remorse

Having booking RH remorse

Thanks to everyone that helped me decide on my RH, Jericho Terrace, but now I fear that I have 'buyers remorse' after putting the down payment. I am starting to think that its too much $$, and the minimum is really higher than I would like. . . . did anyone else get this feelin of guilt spending all this $$ ? I am losing sleep over this, and am starting to think to look elsewhere where it may be cheaper. I am considering looking at the Riviera just to see if the prices are much cheaper.

JT is beautiful, I fell in love with the Dome room as soon as i walked in..... but is it worth the extra money? Do you think having it at the Riviera would be just as good?

Thanks in advance for any opinions or advice

I think its normal to second guess everything

the riviera an JT are two very different feels, youre not comparing apples to apples!

if you love JT and you are just worried about money then sit down and plan out your whole budget and make sure you have enough time to save for it

sounds like youre more worried about money than the RH itself

You're right--- I am thinking and worrying about the money. I kind of now think that if people are going to have a good time, they will, and it really doesn't matter which RH I choose, so I guess that's whats making me rethink things also.

can you cancel your contract or get your money back? if not, dont stress about the decision. just make the best of it

you only do this once in your life, so pick the place you want!

It's a big decision! I thought maybe I spent too much or picked a bad day or that my minimum was too high, but I just planned my wedding budget and figured everything will fall into place. If you love JT, then don't switch because then you will regret it.

I would say just plan out the budget and figure out a number you will be able to work with comfortably. You have the place that you love.. so just work everything else around that.

If you want to check out another place, then go ahead. When you are in love with a place, you'll find flaws everywhere else you go.

unfortunately i think anything that is a large expense calls for a side of buyers remorse lol
I didnt have with with my RH bc i booked the least expensive place we found and i loved it. But i did have it with the dress; wondering if i spent too much and if its worth it etc. In the end go with your gut...you booked it for a reason!
i do agree with the other brides; now that you know your RH pricing and minimum you can work on your budget...there are ways to save (vendors that cost less than others, DIY projects etc). itll all come together in the end!

I have only placed a deposit as of now. I won't get it back, but it's not a huge sum of money (deposit). If I need to cancel, now is the time, before I put any more money down.

Thanks! I just needed to vent, my FH doesn't seem to understand. I just feel guilty for all that is being spent.

you're right, big purchases always make me feel a little stressed out. I sometimes wish that I didn't look at JT first, lol. I was supposed to see a few more, but fell in love with it and booked it the next day.

thanks for your input!

That's funny because I was having some buyers remorse and I told my FH and he immediately said 'then why did we book it?' Really, if you are just trying to think about your future and the money, then it's a good thing! You'll be fine though. Just try to cut corners in other ways and you'll be fine!

I feel like every bride second guesses things due to money. If you truly love JT, then stay with it - you won't be disappointed, it's a beautiful place. If you're on the fence about it for other reasons, then you should keep looking. All of my married friends told me that they knew their RH was the 'one' as soon as they walked into it.

Re: Having booking RH remorse

Booking a RH is def a big decision and a lot of money is being spent so I think its perfectly normal for you to be rethinking things (I think we prob all have for at least one vendor!) Also, if there is a possibility that you're going to change your RH, you're right, you don't want to spend all this money and change it with the possibility of not getting it back!

Did you really love the Riveria or did you just like the price? Although the price of a place is obviously critical, I dont think that it should be the only factor when making a decision like this. What about your 'vision' for your day? Also think about things like the food, service, ambiance, what's included in your package, etc.? I think you really need to weigh the pros and cons with all the elements (which still might not help your decision if you feel similarly for each place!)

I've never been to the Riveria so I can't really comment on that. However, we had our wedding at the Dome Room at JT and everything was amazing! Food (quality and abundance), service, ambiance... everything just flowed perfectly and not one detail was overlooked. Even throughout the planning process, our BM and Maitre D were so helpful. Guests still talk about our wedding! When DH and I first stepped foot in JT, I remember thinking it was gonna be too much. But we immediately fell in love with it. Compared to a few other places we saw, it wasnt as expensive, esp when you think of all the food and amenities you get. But the bottom line was that we absolutely loved it and knew this was where we were going to have our reception.

Perhaps see a few more places...that might help point you in the right direction. If you feel like nothing else can compare, you'll feel more confident in your decision. GL! If you have any questions about JT let me know!

Re: Having booking RH remorse

I totally know how your feeling. I felt the same way. I actually have the Penthouse right next to the Dome and when I booked I was feeling that for about a week. I did realized it was the only place I really wanted.

I would also tell you to do what I did. I went back in because I was feeling down about the money I was spending and I sat with my sales person Mike. He had such a heart that he added some stuff in and brought the price down another couple of dollars. One thing that did not change was my guarantee of the amount of people in the room. I could live with that as I think I can speak for all of us, I have a 'B' list.

This honestly gave me a little relief because of the other things I needed to budget for.

Hope that helps you...

I'm so sorry your feeling this anxiety - I completely understand. Sometimes I can't believe the amount of money I'm spending on my wedding! As Jennifer just mentioned, try talking to the BM. Explain that you're having money issues and need help with the guarantee or pp amount. It can't hurt to ask. Good luck!

I understand its diffcult committing to a RH. If it helps any, I just recently had my reception in the Dome Room and it was nothing short of perfect. It was a gorgeous room, the staff was amazing, the bridal attendants went above and beyond, the food was delicious, and the event went off without a hitch. From day one, JT was nothing but accomodating and amazing in every way.

Re: Having booking RH remorse

I know I'm going to be the odd one out, I know how you feel. Just because you're in love with a place doesn't mean it's affordable and within your budget. It's a big decision with a large sum of money being spent. There are 2 things that should be done before you put any more money down if you're unsure of the pricetag.

1). Detailed budget: The easiest way I found to do this was take my monthly income (and FH's ) subtracted all my bills, then calculated all reasonable daily expenses/food/entertainment. With what was left, multiplied it by the total number of months prior to the wedding. Then roughly estimated, RH (pp+tx+gr) at your guarantee then add all your other vendors. This should give you a basic idea if you're in over your head or if you're just overestimating costs.

2). Finalize (somewhat) your guestlist and make sure that you'll be able to meet that minimum, keeping in mind that approx. 20-30% rsvp that they can not make it.

I'm all for, if you like it then do it yet, on the other hand I'm also all for being able to make all final payments to ensure that I'm having a wedding the following week. Budgeting was very difficult for us, as was not exceeding our pp limit. I don't want to be in debt after this wedding and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else either. The fact is though, only you know what will work for you. There are so many beautiful places on long island that may be more affordable options should you end up choosing another option.

P.S. I second guess everything!! That why I have to write out the facts so it's in my face...then I'm like, 'Oh, OK! I was worrying over nothing'.

Good luck!!
