hey ladies...so i'm having trouble planning the timing of our special day. FH and I are getting married at the hall and agreed to doing most photos before-hand...however the photographer said we only need about 2 hrs before the ceremony to get our photos done together and with our bridal party and maybe one of our families. The thing is I dont want to make the whole family get there so early. For those of u getting married at the hall, how much time do you have for pics?? we also need to find time to do a quick rehearsal the day of! ahhhh
I want to go to our cocktail hour so we can greet our guests or maybe do a receiving line directly out of the ceremony and into the CH to be sure to see everyone. The thing is, when do we take pics with the rest of our families? during part of the CH? should I extend the CH to 1.5 hrs or is that too much?
thanks ladies for any help! i'm pulling my hair out over this!! i think i need a DOC! (sorry this post is so long)

Re: having troubles with day-of timing
Well the immediate family, WP, and everyone are going to be there early regardless. If there's other close family members you want to get in on the formal pictures, have them show up 1/2 hour to an hour before the ceremony and take those towards the end of your pre-ceremony shoot. You could always make CH 1.5 hours, trust me NO ONE will mind. CH is usually even better than dinner!

I am worried about the same thing with my wedding. One thing I know they do is pull out extended family like aunts and uncles during the reception to get those extra pictures.

We're also getting married at our RH as well.
I agree that most of your close family will be there beforehand and you can get those pics out of the way before the ceremony.
My cousin had the extended family pics right after the ceremony for about 20 minutes before the cocktail hour started. She then went with her new husband to take pics by themselves for about another half hour or so, then came back and did a recieving line.

you see i'd like to do extended family pics right after the ceremony as well but CH starts right away so i was thinking of doing the receiving line then and then maybe finishing the rest of the pics. ahh it's sort of frustrating planning this out but hopefully itll all work

Can you ask them to delay cocktail hour by 15-20 minutes so you can get those pictures done? My cousin didn't start her cocktail hour right away for that reason, and I think we will probably do the same.
Our extended family is the majority of the wedding guest list, so the CH couldn't really start without them.
