I went to 'Fast Fix Jewelry' (which I found out is the place that our local jeweler sends all his work out to) and they did it in 1/2 hour, right in front of me.

Queens Center Mall. They've done everything that has to do with my e-ring from the initial sizing, to fixing the stone when it was loose, and now getting it dipped/cleaned!

Dipped in rhodium. White gold jewelry is really yellow gold with a rhodium covering. There is really no such thing as 'white gold.' Over time, the rhodium wears, and you can see hints of yellow. So it needs to be redipped to cover it again.

If your ring is white gold like mine, the color fades and you start to see th eyellow gold so we have to get them dipped in white gold so that they can look as good as they did when we first recieved them.

How long does it take for your ring to be dipped?? I just called Zales and they said it will take 2-3 weeks?!?!? is that normal???

NO! Not my place anyway....it takes them a half hour about.....Ive never heard of it taking 2-3weeks. however, Ive never had to get another ring dipped before. Try calling a local jeweler....if you want my jewlers info, let me know.

They say every 3-4 months....I do it about every 4. My jewler didnt charge for the first couple dippings because we got the engagement ring and both our wedding bands there but now I pay $40 each dipping.

Edited to add: You really do it when 'you ' think its need tho....you dont have to work on their schedule, ya know? Sometimes mine will last 5 months...you never know.

I think it was $40 or $50 for a cleaning/dip. I just did it when my stone was loose because he offered to do it for free when he fixed it. I plan on having it done the week before the wedding and then again for any special occassions or when it starts to look a little dingy.

Elsa does it, they told us it takes a few minutes, usually about a half an hour, sometimes less... When FH and I go to pick out our diamonds I'll have it done, kill two birds with one stone.


(and I'd like to add- when I first read your title I thought it said 'having hard nipples- question' ... don't ask, I looked fast then went WHAT? and now I feel dumb.

got mine dipped at jareds...it took about 20 mins. i waited in the store
