Re: Hawaii!!!
Waikiki is on the island of Oahu : )
I'm currently doing my research on Hawaii now...probably doing 5 nights Maui, 4 nights Big Island, 3 nights Oahu. Very torn on where to stay in Maui though.

Re: Hawaii!!!
We went to Maui & Kauai (5 nights on each.) We liked Maui best. Unfortuately DH was sick the first 3 days, but favorites were: the hotel (Four Seasons = Amazing,) Road to Hana (we got the narrated CD to play in the Jeep & it was great,) dinner at Mama's, Lahaina Lemonades at the Four Seasons (yumm), exploring the village at Lahaina.
In Kauai we stayed at the Princeville. It was beautiful, but had more families and we liked Four Seasons better. I would recommend Kauai before Maui, it was more relaxing & restful. Cafe Hanalei at Princeville had an amazing view, but you need reservations. We also loved the sunset from the balcony at the Living Room @ Princeville. Hiking Waliea Canyon was an adventure.

Re: Hawaii!!!
Maui was great... we rented a jeep wranlger and drove around Hanna Highway... we went through a rain forest, saw beautiful rainbows, went to a black sand beach, tried awesome wine at the winery, and had smoothies made from real sugar cane. The views were amazing!

Re: Hawaii!!!
I've heard mixed things on the Four Seasons on Maui. I heard the service is amazing but their pool is nothing special. My best friend did the Fairmont Kea Lani and loved it - anyone who goes there raves about it. The rooms are all suites so they are big with separate sitting area. Good pools, service and food. I am looking into Grand Wailea or the Fairmont myself. I LOVE awesome pools and nothing compares to the pools at Grand Wailea....but b/c they are so big I hear that there are tons of kids at this hotel. Luckily I am there at a quiet time so it may not be too big of an issue for me. It's just really expensive...I think all 3 you mentioned are pretty close in price...and I've heard the rooms at Grand Wailea are a little out of date...so not sure I want to pay $500+ a night for rooms in need of renovating. But read the traveler reviews for all on tripadvisor.com - that website is my savior!

I've heard that the Fairmont is the way to go!!!! I've been researching hawaii for almost 7 months now and that is the one hotel that is always consistent. People love it.
check out www.tripadvisor.com and click on the hawaii forums. Do a search or create a new post for more information. Also check www.fodors.com.
***Did anyone book certain excursions or activities in Maui/Oahu that they loved??? I've booked a few for maui already... Captain Steves snorkeling trip, Old Lahaina Luau, Mendes Ranch horseback riding, and i'm thinking of Warren & Annabelles. Anyone have any reviews or thoughts?

Re: Hawaii!!!
I preferred the 4 Seasons to either the Fairmont or Grand Wailea because it was much quieter & laid back: just what we were looking for! GW and Kea Lani were very busy with lots of families...and oddly enough, at the Fairmont, when we visited there, there was one of those big blow up castles that kids jump in and a hot dog cart next to the pool. Thought that was a bit odd! Hotel lobby is beautiful though. We had a heavenly experience at the Four Seasons; club level is THE way to go!!

Re: Hawaii!!!
Originally I was planning on going to 3 islands, but I cut the entire Pearl Harbor thing out and am now staying in Kauai and Maui I was going to stay at the Princeville in Kauai, but now I am staying at the Hyatt--weather is better
I was going to stay at the Grand Wailea but too many bad reviews talked me into the Fairmont.
I am going horseback riding and helicopter in Kaui, I also found some gorgeous gardne tours.
maui--No road to hana for us, but just letting the sites take us over. SO many people told us to speak to conceirge when we arrive and they can do all of the work for us and offer suggestions.
For about 2 months all I did was obsess over this, so feel free to FM me with any questions

For anyone that is researching now, or has went, can you please FM me with Hotels and prices, or how much your trip cost you (hotel and airfaire). We want to go so bad, but I think it might be too expensive. Thanks so much!

Re: Hawaii!!!
Waikiki - surfing Kauai - rent a convertable and drive around the entire island. One day we drove around the east/north and ended at the na pali coast... andthen we hiked there. The next day we did south/west and went to Waimea Canyon. we also did a kayak/rainforest hike there and a helicopter tour. would highly recommend those tours!
