It really depends on where you want to be. I've stayed at the Sheraton, the Hyatt and visited the 4 Seasons and Grand Wailea for the day.

The 4 seasons and the Grand Wailea are amazing and perfect if you don't want to leave the hotel. I absolutely love Lahaina so prefer to stay in Kaanapali which is about 5-10 minutes from Lahaina.

Honestly, anywhere in Maui is amazing and you can't go wrong.

I hear (on tripadvisor.com) that the beach at the Hyatt isn't that nice. Did you find that to be true? I just looked at your honeymoon pics and the beached looked fine to me.

The beach in front of the Hyatt is just 'ok.' If you want the best beach front on Kaanpali, head to the Sheraton. The Sheraton Black Rock is a great hotel - FH and I just like the Hyatt better. (It must be the penguins in the lobby )

However, all beach front in Hawaii is public property. It is about a 10 -15 minute walk from the Hyatt to Black Rock which is in front of the Sheraton. There is a walkway that goes through all of the hotels on the strip. You can also drive and park at the Sheraton.
