We're in the process of planning our honeymoon...12 nights in total. We're doing Napa Valley in California for 3 nights first...then on to Hawaii.
We definitely want to go to Maui, and I'm leaning away from Island hopping...so we can really settle in and relax. Is that strange? Is it silly not to go to another island?
If we were to go to another island, we would do Kauai.

I don't think it's strange but you might get bored on 1 island...I would maybe just add in one other island for maybe 3 nights...then do most of your stay on Maui so you feel settled there. Hawaii is too beautiful of a place to only see 1 island in my opinion. Have you considered the Big Island? I've heard Kauai is beautiful but somewhat boring...really nothing going on there. My friend stayed at the Four Seasons on the Big Island and said it was the most fabulous hotel/resort she thinks she'll ever be at. I saw her pics and it looks to die for. If you go request a room on the ground floor b/c they have these fabulous black lava rock outdoor showers attached to your bathroom!

i think if u r going all the way to HI, def. see another island---maui was my favorite and i think you only need a few days in kauai or oahu.....i suggest to squeeze them in!! the flights are short and you'll settle in quick!!

we stayed only on Big Island for 8 nights and in no way were we bored... except for 2 days that we spent at the hotel relaxing, the rest we travelled around the island... Big Island is so beautiful and has so much to offer, def. worth checking out...

Since you are travelling all the way there, it might be nice to do another Island. I know a lot of people who went to Hawaii for vacations/honeymoons and have only done one island and have regretted taking an inter-island flight to see another island. They weren't bored by just going to one island, they felt though they should've seen more because they were there.

we were the same way when we went!! We just booked it for Kauai I heard such great things about and everyone I spoke to that went there they loved Kauai the best so that is what we did for 18night and it was awesome!! I love Kauai! I would go there you would not be disappointed at all!! We stayed in princeville!! It was beautiful!!
