Hawaii HM advice

Hawaii HM advice

I need some honeymoon advice.
We're planning to go the Hawaii for a total of 10-11 days. We're planning to do Kauai, Maui and Big Island (in this order).
First question: What hotel in Maui would you recommend Royal Lahaina or Kaanapali
Beach Club?
Second question: We're planning to do 3 nights in each island, but all the reviews here are raving about Maui and saying how it’s so beautiful and exciting that 3 nights might not be enough. So I'm thinking to cut the Big Island short and do only two nights and that way we can stay 4 nights in Maui. Any thoughts? Experiences?

I've been to Hawaii twice and am going back for the HM! It's just incredible. Maui is my absolute favorite island. I haven't stayed at any of the hotels you mentioned in Maui - we usually stay at the Hyatt there. I think both of these hotels are on the other side of black rock. I know it's beautiful over there, but it's a little bit far from the town of Lahaina which is where the action on Maui is.

As far as changing the number of nights on Maui - I would recommend it if you could. While I also love Kauai there's not really all that much to do there. Most of Kauai shuts down the second the sun sets. On the Big Island, after you've seen the volcanoes, there's not much else to see. However, as a warning to you, if you go to the Big Island be aware that it's really big. Most of the hotels are on the Kona coast which is about a 3-4 hour drive from volcanoes national park.

Hope this helps.

I loved The Kaanapali Beach Hotel. They totally upgraded us to an oceanview room because it was our honeymoon. I loved kauai more than maui, and there is a lot to do there. We stayed at the Hyatt in Kauai, which is amazing, but we took a trip to the other side of the Island, and it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I'm talking about 1 lane bridges and the most magnificent beaches. There was a lot to do -- we went ziplining, horseback riding, kayaking, and exploring all in Kauai. We didn't do the big island, we wanted to spend more time on two islands rather than hopping around too much.

Im actually from kauai.. I personally think you could get away with doing just Maui and Kauai and not even do the big island.
I have been living in Vegas for 2 years and went back home to 'vacation' with my BF and his family.. we were there for 10 days doing the touristy things and still didnt do everything.
And yes.. the northshore is breathtaking and a must.. but the Grand Hyatt in Poipu is my favorite hotel on the island.
Its just a very romantic place.. and yes, very quiet. Save the nightlife for Maui.
Good luck with your decision.

I agree about the Grand Hyatt! We are in love that with place. The best meal I've ever had was at Tidepools there.

New dilemma,
Sheraton or Marriott in Kauai? Both of them got great reviews and look really nice... Don't know which one to choose. Any experiences at either?

I stayed at both - it's a tough choice. FH and I prefer the Hyatt - I think he likes the penguins in the lobby

However, the Sheraton has a nicer beach front and Black Rock (great for snorkeling) is on it's beach.

They're both fantastic hotels though. I'd go with whatever one gave you a better deal - you can't go wrong with either.

That's probably what we'll do. I'd stay in the Hyatt if I could but it's like $500 more expansive so we have to budget ourselves somehow :)
Thanks for the advice

FH refers to them as the 'unhappy penguins' but they're very cute and they live in the lobby. There's also Fluff and Spike - these really cool birds that live there and fish, it's just amazing.

When we thought honeymoon- the first thing FH said 'we have to go back and see my friends the penguins.'
