Hawaii Honeymoon

Hawaii Honeymoon

We are looking into the Hyatt Regency in Maui and the Kona Village Resort on the big island. Has anyone been to either of these places? What other hotels on those islands (or Kauai) can anyone recommend?

I am looking for more info as well.

What have you heard about the Kona Village???

We are thinking of 4 Seasons, Ritz Carlton or Grand Wailea in Maui. Kona Village or 4 Seasons on the Big Island and the Hyatt Regency in Kauai.

I posted a similar post yesterday!

We stayed at the Halekulani on Oahu, the Grand Wailea on Maui (unbelieveably awesome!) and the Four Seasons on the Big Island (stunning!). Best trip of our lives and worth every penny!!

Haven't been there yet, but I know many people who have. We are staying at the Four Seasons on Maui, and the Hyatt on Kuaui. Some people have also stayed at the Princeville on the north side of Kuaui. We were orginally going to go to Kona (we decided not to due to time restrictions), but were were going to stay at the Four Season. Good Luck!

How did you like the Halekulani on Oahu? We are looking to stay 3 days in Honolulu and 7 days in Maui. How was the location, rooms, service, loction, etc...? How does it compare to the other hotels like the Sheraton? Thats another one of the hotels we are looking at. Thanks!

The Kona Village on Hawaii looks really different from a regular hotel, and that's why we're considering it. It has all separate cottages (ranging from standard to very very deluxe). There's no tv, phone, radio, etc, so its kind of secluded... nothing but you and your honey! Meals are also included, so thats a plus. I was hoping that someone had been there already to say whether or not its a good choice. If you hear anything else about this or anything else, please let me know! Good luck!!

As for Kona Village, we feel the same. It is soo different than a large hotel...sounds like what a honeymoon and a tropical island should be like. We were thinking of only going for 3-4 days b/c we would be afraid of getting too bored. The package we looked at does come with a rent-a-car so you can get away if it gets lonely!

My fiance sent me some info from a site that had all reviews..it is pretty long so if you want, post your email address and I will forward it to you. The reviews are good and bad. I am not sure what website he went to.

My fiance also spoke with someone who went there and loved every minute of it. He said the snorkeling was great, the food was great, no ants in his hut, no complaints. But then he had another co-worker who just came back today from his honeymoon that said Kauai has more to do than the Big Island...so we are still going back and forth which island to go to. We just love the idea of Kona Village.

The Halekulani on Oahu is gorgeous. Very low-key and very relaxing compared to the 'Miami Beach' feel in Oahu. Worth every single penny. In the afternoons, they have a Hawaiian band and hula dancer by the pool. In the crush of Oahu it is like a mini-Oasis. Great (famous) pool and right on the beach. www.halekulani.com

The Grand Wailea is HUGE but stunning. Service was fantastic, the most UNBELIEVABLE Sushi restaurant -- all their restaurants were great. It's not cheap, but again worth it for a once in a lifetime thing. The spa is also something you should check out. www.grandwailea.com. While in Maui, we played Golf, took a helicopter tour of the whole island, went to the top of the volcano to watch the sunrise (dress warm!) and then rode bikes all the way down, and went to a luau somewhere.

On the big island, the Four Seasons is totally different from the Grand Wailea - very polynesian, little hut rooms, outdoor showers in some rooms and also just unbelievably luxurious. Beautiful pools, beautiful beach. Great food. We played golf there and also went to see the Volcano park which is awesome.

Hawaii was worth every dime and so much fun!! There is plenty to do and plenty of perfect weather to just lay in the sun, relax and drink frosty drinks. I can't really complain about anything. Make sure you tell everyone that you are on your honeymoon - the GW upgraded our room and the Four Seasons sent all kinds of goodies to the room. My only advice would be not to spend too much time on Oahu - the other islands are much nicer. On Oahu, all we did was check out Pearl Harbor and relax right after the wedding. It was the first island we went to. Try to get a package with a rental car on Maui and Hawaii - you really don't need one on Oahu.
